I was needing some bright, little girl friendly fabric for a quick birthday gift for early July so rather than make myself crazy pulling from my stash baskets I just used a fat eighth bundle of an old Riley Blake line called "Hoopla" that's been sitting on my shelf for YEARS! I LOVE the way all of the fabrics go together, even though there are a few prints that are a little hard to see the actual block pattern after they're made up (ex. the light purple on the red wavy stripe).

Thursday, June 28, 2012. June do.Good Stitches. This month in the Heal Circle. Of doGood Stitches we got to make any star block out of solids. I love stars so I used this as an opportunity to try two new blocks I've never made before. The first I chose was an Ohio Star - I do live in Ohio! McCall's pattern and it came together so quickly. I am considering making a mini or a throw out of these. Wouldn't the points look neat when you pieced several together? This is the Whirling Star. Links to this post.

Friday, September 28, 2012. Well I did it. I made my first hexie. Now I'm addicted! I took two mini charm packs ( Odds and Ends. By Julie Comstock) that I had gotten with some fabric orders, some teeny 1.5" hexie papers and got to work. I followed the basic directions from the Hexa Go-Go book. Wednesday, October 31, 2012. So, back at Sewing Summit, my new besties came up with the idea of keeping the fun growing by doing a monthly challenge. The idea is that we have a partner pick a palette for us that is different from the one we normally use. We get to make whatever we like, but we have to push ourselves to create with colors we don't normally use. I get to pick colors for the lovely Shannon of Sew Your Own Way.
