Friday, July 17, 2015. Happy 60th Birthday, Disneyland! In honor of Disneyland's 60th birthday today, we are going back 50 years to when the park was celebrating it's "Tencennial." This coloring book from 1965 has the official Disneyland Tencennial logo on it's cover. I don't own the coloring book shown above, but I do own the one below which is from the same year and contains images from the park's Tencennial celebration. Hey, who scribbled out the floral Mickey? The new Plaza Inn exterior and interior ...

Thursday, June 7, 2012. The Sky Cabin At Knott's Reopens! I am going to be tying up a loose end today. It's my finale to the Knott's Sky Cabin series of posts that I ran back in March. Why did it take me so long to end that series? Well, I guess I've been kind of lazy.or distracted.or both! These last images are miscellaneous photos that I did not have older comparison pics for. I would like to thank Major Pepperidge. Again, for letting me use his vintage images for my previous Sky Cabin posts! If we zoo...

Friday, August 31, 2012. Knott's Berry Farm - The Halloween Haunt Museum Opens! In honor of their 40th Halloween Haunt, Knott's Berry Farm has opened a special Haunt Museum. The museum is located in Ghost Town in a building that was originally the City of Downey's very first post office. Since being moved to Knott's in 1952, it has contained many different stores including the Bonnet Shop, but it was also the original location of the "Mrs. Murphy's Boarding House" peek-in. Here's a close up. The ghost wa...

Carrousel of Fun - Disneyland's colorful "King Arthur Carrousel" is one of the largest of it's kind in the world. Today's bold knights may ride on any of the Fantasyland attraction's 72 beautiful hand-carved steeds for an imaginary journey back to the days of King Arthur.". Thursday, October 25, 2012. Knott's 40th Halloween Haunt: Part 3 - Gypsy Camp. It's time to visit Gypsy Camp at Knott's Berry Farm! No, not the Gypsy Camp that was replaced by the Roaring 20's in 1975, but a temporary Gypsy Camp that is open on Halloween Haunt nights only. This area is actually set up backstage and is sort of a Gypsy-themed "corridor" that leads to four of the Haunt's walk-thru mazes. Here's a quiet Gypsy encampment. Chicken-man" can also be seen lurking about in this area. There are als...

Tuesday, July 17, 2012. Happy Birthday, Disneyland! In honor of Disneyland's 57th birthday today, I'm posting a few buttons from my personal collection. These first two were available for park guests to purchase on July 17th, 1985 and 1986 for Disneyland's 30th and 31st birthdays. I remember the button from the 30th birthday quickly selling out that day and I also remember being approached later in the evening by a park guest offering to buy mine for $20! Happy 57th Birthday, Disneyland! Life Is A Journey.

Tuesday, June 9, 2015. Mickey's Mouseorail (& Other Vintage Tomorrowland Ride Vehicles). In 1987, the Mark III Monorails at Disneyland were retired and replaced with the Mark V Monorails (the Mark IV was designed for use at Walt Disney World). After retirement, the Mark III "Monorail Red" train was chopped up and converted into "Mickey's Mouseorail.". Note the steering wheel that was installed in the nosecone of the monorail. There is also a pirate ship parade float that can be seen in the distance&#...
