Barbaric Musings: Wild Warhol
http://barbaricmusings.blogspot.com/2010/07/wild-warhol.html
Being various random thoughts from one often rejoicing in the pseudonym of Fafhrd. Wednesday, July 14. Had such fun with our Y1/2 class today. First, let me remind you that that isn't my normal class. It's that time of year when we do class swaps and, as I'm leaving, I got to fill-in for one of the new teachers who couldn't make it in. So, my basic premise for the day was "Going Wild". First, we watched an animated version of Maurice Sendak's "Where the Wild Things are" from YouTube. Know a Noah, George?

Barbaric Musings: Result!
http://barbaricmusings.blogspot.com/2008/03/result.html
Being various random thoughts from one often rejoicing in the pseudonym of Fafhrd. Saturday, March 1. Bit of a result, at least - I've been offered another year's contract at my school. But yes, I am gainfully employed next year again - still in Y4 (so with this year's Y3) with the same TA (because we're apparently making a great team). Yee-flippin'-ha! They said thank you! There was an error in this gadget. Know a Noah, George? The Voyages of Ellida of Laira. A Series of Fortunate Events.

The Voyages of Ellida of Laira: January 2013
http://ellidaoflaira.blogspot.com/2013_01_01_archive.html
The Voyages of Ellida of Laira. Or how to travel a long way very slowly). Friday, 18 January 2013. A little bit of Laos - first Vientiane. Arriving in Vientiane we brought our experience of travelling in SE Asia to the fore and ignored the touts with their gleaming air-conditioned Mercedes at the Arrivals door and carried our bags to the airport gates (only 50 yards in this tiny airport). We were rewarded by finding a tuk-tuk - far more ethnic and in keeping. The city lies on the Mekong River and at this...

The Voyages of Ellida of Laira: March 2012
http://ellidaoflaira.blogspot.com/2012_03_01_archive.html
The Voyages of Ellida of Laira. Or how to travel a long way very slowly). Saturday, 10 March 2012. Pangkor Resort Island Marina. Back to Ellida after a 3 month break in UK. There is always that ‘bated breath’ moment when the hatch is unlocked and the boat interior is revealed. Will there be unwanted visitors; ants, cockroaches or even rats? 160; But no, all seemed fine, even the battery power level had been kept to an acceptable level by single solar panel. Let’s see …we’ve just done 100.

The Voyages of Ellida of Laira: August 2009
http://ellidaoflaira.blogspot.com/2009_08_01_archive.html
The Voyages of Ellida of Laira. Or how to travel a long way very slowly). Monday, 31 August 2009. Breaking ourselves in gently, it is just 120 kms to Cania Gorge. Like so many towns in this area, Monto's history goes back to the 1840's when the land was deemed pastoral, Then in the 1970's there was a gold discovery, but this was short lived and the town reverted to pastoral farming and also logging. Next is a longer trek, of perhaps 6 kms to the 'two-tier bat caves'. Much of the track follows the lin...

The Voyages of Ellida of Laira: September 2011
http://ellidaoflaira.blogspot.com/2011_09_01_archive.html
The Voyages of Ellida of Laira. Or how to travel a long way very slowly). Monday, 26 September 2011. The Rice Fields of Bali. We took an obscene number of shots between us in this location, to the extent that Liz ran out of space on her camera card and had to borrow a spare. I have posted several shots instead of resorting to a collage for this location - I have this vain fancy that some folks may care to see some of them up-large so to speak. The roads could have been used. A lady came towards us with a...

The Voyages of Ellida of Laira: September 2009
http://ellidaoflaira.blogspot.com/2009_09_01_archive.html
The Voyages of Ellida of Laira. Or how to travel a long way very slowly). Wednesday, 30 September 2009. From Wheat Plains to Pinnacles. Leaving Mingenew we continue inland through vast grain paddocks and reach the town of Morewa and then on to Perenjori for our lunch stop. However it is Saturday and Perenjori with its Folk Museum is closed by the time we arrive. Like virtually all towns in Australia Perenjori has a picnic site, excellent loos and interesting murals. Oh well, just one last diversion to th...
