Thursday, 6 August 2015. Pennington Flash and Lunt Meadows. Called in again to Pennington and the Sabine gull is still hanging around, surely it must be off soon. It is still drawing a fair crowd with people travelling hours to see it. I believe a Juvenile Med gull was present on and off during the day, I'm not that clued up on gulls. Wednesday, 5 August 2015. Sabine Gull, Day 2. I headed to Pennington this morning around 07:00 just to see if the Sabine gull from yesterday was still about. Upon arrival 6 birders were watching it in the same place as yesterday, and it was still feeding on insects from the top of the water. Saturday, 31 January 2015. Headed off to RSPB Burton mere this morning with Mark and called in to Parkside on the way,. Female Hen harrier was about first thing but dropped down in to the marsh. Friday, 27 February 2015. Took a quick walk after lunch around Rutland water, and while sitting in grebe hide a bird caught my eye. I managed to get a quick photo before it flew in to the distance. Sunday, 26 April 2015. I headed to Fen Drayton for a look around and it seemed more quiet than normal with nothing out of the ordinary other than a few white wagtails. Monday, 3 August 2015. Called into to Lunt the last few nights starting last Friday. Highlight on Friday was the SEO that made an appearance, coming quite close at times. I called back tonight but no show for the SEO or the Barn owls, the Marsh harrier did make a brief appearance but flew off towards the road.
