WYroaming: This Awesome Weekend
http://wyroaming.blogspot.com/2011/10/this-awesome-weekend.html
Friday, October 14, 2011. I have this friend that's really into the MLS. So we went down to Commerce City, a suburb of Denver, on Friday night to watch a game. I'm not too much for watching soccer, but it was fun despite a scoreless match. The traditions are different for soccer, like wearing scarfs, and when the team comes onto the field everyone holds up the scarf and chants stuff. The Colorado Rapids actually won the MLS Championship Cup last year, so they're a decent team! View my complete profile.

WYroaming: Hoctober
http://wyroaming.blogspot.com/2011/10/hoctober.html
Monday, October 10, 2011. Well, played some ice hockey again last night for the first time since High School. Hard to believe that as almost 6 years ago now, but the skills came back almost effortlessly. I'm not sure if the other players were just that mediocre or if I'm that good, but I scored a goal and had an assist in the 3-2 loss. It was fun to get back out on the ice! It's awesome being back out on the ice. I will say that I haven't missed the hockey stench though. There were about 8 friends th...

WYroaming: Lessons of the Blues
http://wyroaming.blogspot.com/2011/10/lessons-of-blues.html
Thursday, October 13, 2011. Lessons of the Blues. I was reading an article today about a blues musician from the early 20th century. The first time this guy saw someone playing slide was early on in his life at a train station. There on a bench sat an old man singing mournful bluesy tunes, and playing slide guitar with a knife. This is where he was first inspired to play slide himself. I do, and he was using a knife! On a physical/material level I'll give the example of getting in shape. My Final MTC Post.

Hiking the Appalachian Trail: Georgia to Maine. Friday, May 27, 2011. Familiar Territory: Smoky Mountains. I haven't been able to blog much so far because the town I went into had a library, but I went in on a Sunday and it was closed. Hopefully it won't always work out that way. For those who are curious, here is an example of an AT shelter (a Smokies one). As for the trail name, it has yet to be born. I have had a few offers, but none of them have stuck. We'll see what it becomes soon. This photo of my...

WYroaming: July 2011
http://wyroaming.blogspot.com/2011_07_01_archive.html
Monday, July 25, 2011. Went to the Pawnee Buttes National Grasslands. This weekend. It was amazing, and very cool to get a taste of the plains western scenery. Tuesday, July 19, 2011. Half of the leaves and small branches are gone from trees, and many things got broken. Rough estimates of damage to the city are around $25 million. That number though, isn't near as shocking as the number my State Farm insurance estimator gave me yesterday morning. Who would've thought that hail could put over $11,000 of d...

Hiking the Appalachian Trail: Georgia to Maine. Wednesday, December 25, 2013. Euro trip: Spain pt. I. Friday, December 13, 2013. My final exams have ended for the semester, and I am in need of a break. Julie and I have been saving and planning for this trip for a long time. I'm so thrilled to go to Europe. I've never been before, though I consider myself to be fairly traveled. Julie has actually traveled many more countries than I have. Saturday, December 14, 2013. WYroaming: May 2011
http://wyroaming.blogspot.com/2011_05_01_archive.html
Friday, May 20, 2011. I was greeted this morning by a surge in the balance of my checking account! Finally got that tax refund I've been waiting for! Funny story behind it though. Guess who forgot to sign their tax return before sending it? Yeah that'd be me. It's a real sinking feeling to see mail from the IRS in your mailbox when you shouldn't be receiving anything but an electronic deposit. Thankfully all I had to do was sign and resend; no penalties thank the Lord! Also, got to talk to Jeff yesterday!

The Northbounder: January 2014

Hiking the Appalachian Trail: Georgia to Maine. Thursday, January 2, 2014. Euro Trip: Italy pt. I. Saturday, December 21, 2013. Silvia was nice enough to set up an early 5am taxi for us to go the airport. We talked with the taxi driver about the politics of Spain the whole ride. He said he likes to practice his English. We checked in and boarded the plane. Amazingly, we were the first row so I had excellent leg room again! Sunday, December 22, 2013. The Spanish Steps weren't too far away, so we walked th...

The Northbounder: Colorado Fourteeners. One Week. Five Peaks.
http://jhmcknight.blogspot.com/2013/07/colorado-fourteeners-one-week-five-peaks.html
Hiking the Appalachian Trail: Georgia to Maine. Sunday, August 25, 2013. Colorado Fourteeners. One Week. Five Peaks. We stayed at a small motel room, ate Mexican that night, and turned in for the night. We wanted to take it slow before we started approaching high altitudes, so staying in BV that night was probably smart. The clouds never pulled parted, but the sky didn't yield anymore rain. We began climbing up Missouri's eastern face across several boulder fields. We arrived in Aspen around mid morning,...
