The KOA Award annually recognizes a master artist who has, throughout their lifetime, been an inspiration: both to the community they serve and through the art he/she creates. Mai ka Mea Hana Ka’ike, From Tools Comes Knowledge. Hawaiian Basalt Stone,1987. Iliahi and Parking Lot B. The idea for "Spirit Way", has its roots in the "porta" that marks the entryway to the Italian city and the "torii", the gateway to the Japanese Shinto shrine. Expressions of the Natural Wonders. June 5th - September 12th, 2014. Jingquao Zhao's work, "Expressions of Natural Wonders" gives new expression to the traditions of Chinese brush work. In the interpretation of the natural world around us Mr. Zhao presents to the viewer an abstract representation of the natural world. With his brush and paint's on rice paper, Zhao demonstrates the poetry and strength of nature and forces which are inherent in creation. Alison Beste and Lisa Hornack.
