I looked out across the Warwickshire hills this morning, in between hitting tennis balls as my students enjoyed a coaching session at the picture postcard sports ground in Napton, and in my mind I overlayed the aerial photographs from last October 4th, the crimson tide spilling out from the ruptured reservoir, the River Nile turning to blood.

Sunday, 27 February 2011. I can't blame them. I stuck out like a sore thumb - what were they supposed to make of this strange pilgrim? Groundbreaking eco disaster tourist? So there was an inevitability about the police car slowing down and two armed cops (one with shades) stepping out and asking what I was doing. Sunday, 27 February 2011. Back in Rugby now. If I was smart enough I'd do yesterday's route as a shape poem, but it goes something like this:. Anyway, I want to get some of the story out, and the quickest way for me will be some rough edit video clips. That way I get to spend time with my family, get back into the swing of school work. I was getting things ready in my new classroom yesterday, painting a blackboard on the wall (like you do in an old Victorian schoolroom) and as I moved some stuff out of the way of the drips, I picked up a children's history book I'd not seen before. It wasn't particulary good, not a patch on the Ladybird histories of my childrhood, but I flicked through it anyway. Slavery, freedom, safe houses, the everyday heroic. Watch the full episode. And I also heard another word, just in the flow of conversation with Aaron Lincoln, and not about me, but boy did I feel the Spirit give me a kick when I heard it, and the word was: disgruntled. And I have a bit of disgruntled martyrdom in my DNA, for sure. So I found this video from Floyd McClung really helpful in dealing with the stuff that goes on in my heart.
