From today’s run, Extra 8610 East passes through the pass at Farron summit, and performs a brake test before tipping over the 2.65% grade that descends 25 miles to Castlegar. A thermal test will be required around the halfway point at Shields siding. The train is heavy with lumber products from the Boundary district, but isn’t terribly long, and the 4 unit’s dynamic brakes will help in the descent. Posted 1 year ago.
