한국어정규과목채택추진회(Korean Language Association Inc.)는 미국 중고등학교에 한국어가 정규 외국어 과목으로 채택되어 한인 2세들과 타민족 미국 학생들이 한국어와 한국 문화를 배우도록 하기 위해 2007년 10월 20일 뉴욕에 설립된 비영리 단체이다. 1997년, 한국어가 미국 대학 입학시험 외국어 과목으로 채택되어 첫해에 2,300여 명이 응시하였고 그 후 응시자 수가 계속 늘어나 2006년 입시 때에는 3,400여 명이 응시하였다. 그러나 응시자 대부분이 한인 1.5세나 2세들이어서 외국어로서의 한국어의 한계성이 드러났다. 1 고등학교 정규 한국어반 개설 계속 추진. 2 한국어 교사 양성을 위한 장학금 모금 운동. 한국어반 개설을 위하여서는 한국어교사 양성이 절대 필요하다. Rutgers 대학교에는 이미 대학원과정에 한국어교사양성프로그램이 개설되어 있지만 한국정부의 지원을 받아 내년 9월 학기부터 한국어양성프로그램이 정규 프로그램이 될 것이다. CUNY Queens College 대학원 과정에도 한국어교사양성 프로그램 개설을 추진하고 있다. 여기에 우수한 학생들을 유치시키기 위하여 장학금이 필요하다. 추진회는 장학금 모금운동도 전개하려고 한다. 이 장학금 모금운동에 장학금을 주고 있는 많은 재단이나 단체의 도움이 필요하다. 1 Continue efforts to institute to regular Korean language courses in high schools. 2 Fundraising for scholarships towards the development of Korean language teachers.

1 한국어 교사 자격증 획득을 위한 단기 교육 실시. 현재 중고등학교에서 TESOL이나 다른 과목 교사 자격증을 갖고 한국어를 가르치고 있는 교사(현재 한국어 교사 자격증이 없는 교사)와 현재 사범학교에서 TESOL 학과에 재학하고 있는 학생등 한국인 5명이 2008년 9월 학기부터 Rutgers University에 개설된 단기 한국어교사 자격 프로그램 과정을 입학하여 2년 동안 수업을 이수하였다. 2010년에 뉴저지주 교육청을 통해 황정숙 선생과 원지영 선생이 한국어교사자격시험을 취득하였다. 김지선 선생,이지선 선생, 조미경 선생은 현재 뉴욕주교육청에 서류를 제출하고 수속 중이다. 2 Palisades Park High School 한국어반 개설.
