Overview of the experiment. The purpose of the J-PARC E14 KOTO experiment is to search for new physics that breaks the CP symmetry. The probe that we use is K. 957; ν. Decay This decay directly breaks the CP symmetry: changing a (mostly) CP-odd state to a CP-even state. In the standard model (SM), this decay mode goes through a "penguin" diagram with a top quark in the loop. Since K. Is expressed as K. The current experimental limit is 2.6×10.

The K0TO experiment aims to discover and measure the second order flavor changing neutral current reaction K. Which will either establish more precise limits for the standard model or lead to new physics . The standard model predicts that this reaction will have a branching ratio of (2.8 0.4)*10.
