My AWI Troops: December 2013
http://fg-zinnfiguren.blogspot.com/2013_12_01_archive.html
Thursday, 12 December 2013. Another well documented flag of a militia unit from the Revolutionary War is that of the Hanover Associators in Pennsylvania. The flag itself has gone, but there is an ancient engraving in the Pennsylvania State Archives and a description in a letter of Col. Timothy Green, commanding officer of the. PA Archives (the fastening to the staff and the fringes are wrong). A scroll with the motto. The whole unit (which could be filled up with other militia figures). Links to this post.

My AWI Troops: The 71st Regiment of Foot
http://fg-zinnfiguren.blogspot.com/2015/07/the-71st-regiment-of-foot.html
Friday, 10 July 2015. The 71st Regiment of Foot. Fraser’s Highlanders, as the regiment was unofficially known, were raised by Colonel Simon Fraser of Lovat in 1775 for service in North America. Colonel Fraser, a veteran of the French and Indian War, did, however, not accompany his regiment to America, but a large number of combat-proven officers from the. Former 78th Fraser’s Highlanders did. In contrast to typical British regiments of the time which consisted of 1080 men in 10 companies, the 71. Enliste...

My AWI Troops: Colonel of the 84th Foot
http://fg-zinnfiguren.blogspot.com/2015/07/colonel-of-84th-foot.html
Tuesday, 14 July 2015. Colonel of the 84th Foot. Since my former colonel of the 84th Regiment of Foot had been tranfered to the 71st (where he, being a jackdaw figure, originally belonged) I had to have a new mounted officer for my Royal Highland Emigrants. Here he is:. As I am planning to have my 42nd in gaiter trousers, he might just as well switch to that regiment - the only difference being the green dots on his cap ribbon (the 42nd's were blue). But I'm sure nobody will notice on the table.

My AWI Troops: November 2013
http://fg-zinnfiguren.blogspot.com/2013_11_01_archive.html
Saturday, 30 November 2013. In order to transport water from one of the wells or the stream to the troops I needed another water cart with a barrel. My first one was an old model by Erich Erich which I had bought decades ago for my army of flats. It was a nice water cart with a tapped barrel. However there was no draft animal nor a drover. So I bought these from Front Rank Miniatures, a nice looking ox and a drover in a smock. Now the incident card "hot weather" may be drawn. Links to this post. Our rule...

My AWI Troops: Jäger Corps von Creuzbourg
http://fg-zinnfiguren.blogspot.com/2015/06/jager-corps-von-creuzbourg.html
Friday, 26 June 2015. Jäger Corps von Creuzbourg. The jaegers were armed with short-barreled jaeger rifles of Hesse-Hanau production. These had walnut stocks and brass fittings, an eight sided barrel, and iron rammers with brass ends. The rifle slings were of red-brown leather. A jaeger rifle of Hesse-Hanau production (over-all length 1.11 m). Another problem could easily be solved (at least to my taste): The Hessen-Hanau Jaegers wore leather gaiters which lasted throughout the war. There was no need...

My AWI Troops: January 2014
http://fg-zinnfiguren.blogspot.com/2014_01_01_archive.html
Monday, 27 January 2014. Off the beaten track. Last year at CRISIS in Antwerp I got a 28mm miniature by Paul Hicks as a gift. It represents Messire Joseph de Séguiran, Marquis de Bouc, colonel-lieutenant of the Régiment de Maine, who was killed at the battle of Eekeren (also spelled Ekeren or Eeckeren) in 1703. Links to this post. Photo from Williamsburg, VA, showing summer-kitchen and well (on the left) and an outhouse (on the right). Well becoming a wealthy landlord. So I decided to build one. The roof...
