Because it’s not “just another Krewe.” That’s why! It all began in 1928 when the Catholic Daughters of St. John’s Cathedral Parish started the “Children’s Carnival” with the intent of providing wholesome activity for the children of Lafayette. The Krewe of Oberon Children’s Carnival became an independent Mardi Gras Krewe in 1975. And now, Oberon celebrates its Tableau annually and is still the oldest continually active children’s carnival group in the state. 4 Parties, Fun and Life Long Friendships.
