Random Ramblings: Homeschooling
http://musingsofjswood.blogspot.com/2012/03/homeschooling.html
Monday, March 26, 2012. I've been homeschooling for ten years and that seems like a long time. This year I put my girls in school and it has been a crazy experience. It's amazing what so many teachers think of homeschoolers. Some of the comments:. You're doing so well with your grammar work and improved so much since your mother didn't teach you to write." Really? So those papers from last year don't count? And how about when my twelve year old writes about Shakespeare's play and how much she loved Puck?

Tuesday, August 10, 2010. Teaser Tuesday - Mountain Escape. This is a teaser from my SNI (shiny new idea). Currently I have an entire chapter written :) This is at the end of the first chapter. 8220;Be careful,” Samantha said. “It’s been raining, so it’s really wet.” Her tone was more nice than condescending, but it still bugged me. If only my parents could see me now. They’d probably regret not sending me to Juvie. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile. Confessions of a YA Writer. Old Peo...

Sunday, October 31, 2010. Three things that made my week. Before November (and NaNo) gets here I wanted to share three things that made my week, er, weekend. 1- Someone I betaed for said, "Oh my God Jenn, the feedback you sent me is amazing! I just want to bang my head on the desk and scream 'you're right! At the top of my lungs.". That's the kind of stuff that makes me feel really good. I'm helping someone. And yes, I did just stroke my own ego. And no, I don't need anyone else to ;). If you know of sit...

Abstracts, Papers, and Other Exciting Tales. Hello from the great beyond! I feel like I'm crawling out of a very dark hole into a clearing directly in the sun, the kind of bright light that brings tears to your eyes and forces them closed. I've been buried under a mound of work - not that I mind that - and am finally, after almost 3 months blogging. So why haven't I been blogging? Well, it's simple. I've either been working or sleeping, but never at the same time. What have I been doing with work? Im gla...

Istanbul: Day 5 - The Last Day. As sad as it is, today was our last real day in Istanbul. And, we, being the poor planners that we must be, thought it would be a good idea to go to Topkapi Palace today.a Saturday.the last day of Ramadan.in Istanbul. Yeah, so maybe we should have gone earlier in the week. I tried to take pictures. Over the course of the day, I think we were standing in lines that long! However, it was do to the directions from the Carpet Selling Philosophy Professor from day 1 that we hap...

So, I didn't start out doing updates, mainly because I had so much to do to get ready for the move. Now I've moved, and I'm looking at pretty snow falling from the sky. I may not think it's so pretty if/when it starts to stick. But that's okay, because I've got a picture! Please excuse the awful hair and lack of makeup. So that's me at 28 weeks pregnant with baby Ninja. My mom took the picture with her new camera in a poorly lit hotel room. Posted by Laura McMeeking. After I found out, I started getting ...

Random Ramblings: Time4Learning Review
http://musingsofjswood.blogspot.com/2012/05/time4learning-review.html
Monday, May 7, 2012. So, this was totally different for me. Reviewing curriculum instead of books. I thought it would be pretty cool to get a free month and try out a computer based curriculum and I'm glad I did. My son actually laughed. Daily. Over language arts! We didn't care for the history or science portion. Partly because there was a bit of reading and he hates when he has a lot to read. If they pages would've been read to him, he would've liked it more. There were things I liked about...Bottom li...
