tefltraveler in Indonesia

Every morning I take time alone with God in our upstairs dining room. I prepare my daily cup of instant 3-in-1 coffee (coffee, creamer, sugar) and set up a chair next to the railing overlooking the beach and the fishing community that lives on it. Often I’m there before others on our base come up for breakfast, and if there is anyone else around I just try to ignore them and focus on my “3 in 1 time” – 3-in-1 coffee and my 3-in-1 God. Then there is the couple who push their food cart down the street to t...

tefltraveler in Indonesia: December 2008

http://www.kristibishop.blogspot.com/2008_12_01_archive.html

Rainy Season is Here. Indonesia's 4 to 5 month rainy season has been gradually kicking into gear since early-mid November. It has rained a few days a week, usually in the late evening and over night, proving itself not too horrible an inconvenience. Yet all I've heard from the locals is that the REAL rainy season is yet to come. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile. Financial provision for life, study, and ministry in Bali. tefltraveler in Indonesia: Day of Silence

http://www.kristibishop.blogspot.com/2009/04/day-of-silence.html

In my last post (a little more than 3 weeks ago) I mentioned ending silence - that of the internet blogging variety. This post is going to be about the subject of silence itself. The silence I wish to speak of is that required of all residents of Bali for one whole day every year. The reason? The Balinese new year holiday of Nyepi, which fell on March 26 this year. 2) no working - it's a time to stay home with family and meditate, reflect on life and its relationships, etc. So how did we spend Nyepi?

tefltraveler in Indonesia: The end of my internet silence

http://www.kristibishop.blogspot.com/2009/03/end-of-my-internet-silence.html

The end of my internet silence. So on March 19 I flew from Bali to Kuala Lumpur, then caught a flight from there to Penang, arriving at night. During our seminar I met some visiting YWAMers from Penang who I was able to connect with when I went there. There wasn't room for me to stay at the base, so they arranged for me to stay at a guest room at the same international school where my friends had lived! A beach in Batu Ferengghi, Penang Island. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). I'm on a step-by-step jo...

Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Sanity: December 2008

http://tmwettergreen.blogspot.com/2008_12_01_archive.html

Tuesday, December 30, 2008. Fun with Facebook Flair! I totally wish I was tech-savvy enough to know how to have my Facebook Flair show up on this blog, because some of them totally make me laugh! I know a lot of people out there hate all the applications and stuff, but boy, there's some funny stuff people think of! So, I'm going to post my favorites here and you can get a glimpse into my weird sense of humour (you'll have to just imagine the funny picture/graphics/fonts, etc. that go with each one! Whoev...

Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Sanity: Will Work for Sun

http://tmwettergreen.blogspot.com/2009/02/will-work-for-sun.html

Thursday, February 26, 2009. Will Work for Sun. Sigh I think I've become completely addicted to travelling to warm, tropical places. If any of you out there have ever dealt with SAD (seasonal affective disorder)- which I think almost every Canadian at least can appreciate this in some way- the experience of being somewhere warm, sunny, humid.oh, there is nothing like it. Brynn took me to Jamaica for our honeymoon, which was amazing! Even when it rained, it was extraordinary! I wish I could claim a mandat...

Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Sanity: January 2009

http://tmwettergreen.blogspot.com/2009_01_01_archive.html

Friday, January 30, 2009. My hope is that I can provide some first-hand information on these issues. Wean myself off the med's because I was in a much more stable situation- regular income, no school stress, etc. I know now that one of the withdrawal effects of my med's is something called hypomania- super energy, fantastic mood, just basically a top-of-the-world feeling. It was awesome! Three months later, I felt like crap. So, back on the med's I went. Monday, January 12, 2009. Here's my very partial l...

Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Sanity: Pregnancy Surprises

http://tmwettergreen.blogspot.com/2009/02/pregnancy-surprises.html

Tuesday, February 24, 2009. But now that it's just a vice on my sinuses instead of a dull serated edge hammering away, I think I can concentrate enough to write something. This line of thinking led me to think about other things that have been surprising so far while I've been pregnant for the first time. How sensitive my gag reflux has become. It is amazing how little it now takes to make me lose my meal! And washed my entire outfit. And yes, I do put lotion on. I still itch. How little people have touc...

Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Sanity: Med's and Baby

http://tmwettergreen.blogspot.com/2009/02/meds-and-baby.html

Wednesday, February 4, 2009. So, now it will take 1-2 weeks to see how I start feeling- and hopefully I'll start sleeping better, too. I've been asked by LOTS of people if these med's are dangerous to the baby. I'll assure you that. Before Brynn and I got pregnant- in fact, even before we got married and started trying- I had a long discussion with my doctor at the time (who was absolutely fantastic but then moved away.booooo! Well, I guess that's all for now. Until next time. Calgary, Alberta, Canada.

Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Sanity: The Good, the Bad, and the Misc.

http://tmwettergreen.blogspot.com/2009/03/good-bad-and-misc.html

Tuesday, March 17, 2009. The Good, the Bad, and the Misc. Sorry if you all are getting sick about reading about my pregnancy. But for those of you who don't mind, here's another post :-). Things I would not make it through this pregnancy without. 1 Breathe Right Nasal Strips. I can't believe how stuffy I get at night. These things make it easier to get to sleep and stay sleeping, as opposed to waking myself up from my chainsaw snoring every hour. My pillow has helped so much! 7 Sports bras. The only ...

Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Sanity: March 2009

http://tmwettergreen.blogspot.com/2009_03_01_archive.html

Tuesday, March 31, 2009. Is This What it Feels Like to be a Penguin? And of course, I was super sick for about 3 weeks after that, so once I got better and Brynn wasn't travelling for work, he planned for dinner this last week. Stay tuned for my next post which will cover, in response to a faithful blog reader, my experiences with fruits and vegetables. Tuesday, March 17, 2009. The Good, the Bad, and the Misc. Things I would not make it through this pregnancy without. My pillow has helped so much! 3 Hot/...
