Phantasmagorical: 2014 Great Halloween Lantern Parade - Hats and Costumes

http://www.kristiewinther.blogspot.com/2014/12/2014-great-halloween-lantern-parade.html

Wednesday, December 17, 2014. 2014 Great Halloween Lantern Parade - Hats and Costumes. Photo by Kaitlin Newman for The Baltimore Sun. I was delighted to be asked to make some luminous parade marshal costumes and hats for the parade this year. The theme of this year's parade, organized by The Creative Alliance, was 'Kalidescope',. So my designs referenced their vivid color combinations and tumbling geometric imagery. Colorful LEDs attach to costumes and point at the face for an otherworldly glow.

I painted some set pieces and scenic backdrops or the Mobtown Players production of " Emancipatory Politics: A Romantic Tragedy", written by Eric Bland and directed by Brian Kraszewski. It played. Phantasmagorical: Zamboni mural at the McKeldin Plaza Ice rink

http://www.kristiewinther.blogspot.com/2014/12/zamboni-mural-at-mckeldin-plaza-ice-rink.html

Tuesday, December 16, 2014. Zamboni mural at the McKeldin Plaza Ice rink. This year, a new outdoor ice rink. Opened at McKeldin Plaza in the Inner Harbor of Baltimore. I was pleased to be selected as the artist to design and paint a mural for their Zamboni! This snowflake theme went through a few stages, because the original idea was to have the mural painted on the skate rental shed. When this changed, I adapted the design to fit on a Zamboni. In Progress - Side of Zamboni. In Progress - back of Zamboni.

Sarah Rizzo: July 2009

http://sarahrizzo.blogspot.com/2009_07_01_archive.html

Thursday, July 9, 2009. End of semester dump. Didn't get around to painting today like I had hoped and decided to photograph some stuff from this past semester. Most of these are studies done for Nature Drawing, plus a page of minute gestures from either Figure and Ground or Life drawing from the semester before and a litho. Well, so much for more consistent posting. I swear, I am still working though! Admittedly it took the better part of a month BUT! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile.

The Art and Life of Janna Morton: Split Ends

http://jannamorton.blogspot.com/2014/03/split-ends.html

Wednesday, March 5, 2014. I'm trying to get back into using old book pages as painting surfaces. I suspect that because the page already has some sort of composition and visual interest provided by the text, I then feel free to paint in a more expressive and spontaneous way than I would on a blank page. Monday, July 21, 2014. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Activity Book Zine! I sure am excited to share the zine I created for Light Grey Art Lab. A collection of zines created to commemorate each of the past 30 years! I was given the year 2007, so my mind immediately went to Harry Potter (but then, whenever does it not? It is timely that I’m sharing this with you today, because it was on this exact date in 2007 that the final Harry Potter book was released to eager wizards and muggles worldwide!

The Art and Life of Janna Morton: June 2014

http://jannamorton.blogspot.com/2014_06_01_archive.html

Monday, June 30, 2014. I painted this plate as a wedding gift for two of my best friends in the whole wide world, illustrator Jimmy Malone. And fine artist/teacher Zac Lawhon. I wanted to make something to commemorate their marriage that could look pretty on a wall if they wanted but could also be utilitarian. I included images of them as well as images and symbols that remind me of them, including MICA pre-college lanyards from the summer we all met. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile.

And I think to myself. what a wonderful world. Trekking by a glacial lake in Torres del Paine National Park in Chilean Patagonia. We do not grow absolutely, chronologically. We grow sometimes in one dimension, and not in another; unevenly. We grow partially. We are relative. We are mature in one realm, childish in another.
