Confessions of a Commuting Journalist
The Ferry Diaries: February 2009
http://kristinhanes.blogspot.com/2009_02_01_archive.html
Confessions of a Commuting Journalist. Saturday, February 28, 2009. Girl Scout cookies are like crack. One box of Samoas, one of Mints." I'm tempted to shout NEVER MIND, and clamp a hand over my mouth. But once again, this spirit controlling my movements forces me to pay, and grab the cookies. Then this same force opens BOTH BOXES, and begins to eat. And eat. And eat. Delicious, delectable. Oh, my poor tummy. I can't do it! I grab another one and stuff my face. Friday, February 27, 2009. I'm a scaredy cat.
The Ferry Diaries: November 2009
http://kristinhanes.blogspot.com/2009_11_01_archive.html
Confessions of a Commuting Journalist. Wednesday, November 25, 2009. If you had told me a couple years ago I'd be sitting in Pike Place Bar and Grill with an Italian physicist named Andrea Chincarini, who's working on a gravitational wave detector in Eastern Washington, I would have laughed. Where would I have encountered such a person? And how is it that without ever meeting face-to-face, we could get along so well? The miraculous invention of the Internet, that's how. Monday, November 16, 2009. Last Fr...
The Ferry Diaries: May 2009
http://kristinhanes.blogspot.com/2009_05_01_archive.html
Confessions of a Commuting Journalist. Saturday, May 30, 2009. Zombies and assault rifles and cops - oh my! Http:/ www.komonews.com/news/local/46506782.html. What a very weird Friday evening. It was a zombie of a good time. Labels: A day in the life. Friday, May 29, 2009. A great love for the Northwest. All teenagers become disallusioned with life at some point. They become moody, sullen, wanting to be anywhere but.here. When I was 16 or 17 years old I decided that I absolutely, positively. Right now I'm...
The Ferry Diaries: September 2009
http://kristinhanes.blogspot.com/2009_09_01_archive.html
Confessions of a Commuting Journalist. Tuesday, September 29, 2009. Oktoberfest: Party like a German. David and I shared steins, thank goodness, because they were HUGE. I can't imagine drinking a whole one. We went to another tent playing American rock and roll favorites from the 70's, including Deep Purple and the Rolling Stones. We decided to partake with the Germans and dance on the table benches. Monday, September 28, 2009. Saturday, September 26, 2009. Amsterdam: It's all about the people. Right now...
The Ferry Diaries: Goodbye Ferry, Goodbye Seattle
http://kristinhanes.blogspot.com/2010/04/goodbye-ferry-goodbye-seattle.html
Confessions of a Commuting Journalist. Monday, April 26, 2010. Goodbye Ferry, Goodbye Seattle. I'm changing the focus of my writing now. Instead of writing news every day, I'll write a blog about everything Portland. I grew up in Beaverton, and hardly ever explored the eccentric neighborhoods of the Rose City. Now I'll be living near Hawthorne street, and there will be plenty of fodder for blogging. I hope you'll join me on my new blog, called Portland 360. Http:/ www.khanes.wordpress.com/. IS VERY GOOD .

http://lisacraze.blogspot.com/2011/01/im-still-here.html
Remixed Rants, Ramblings and Ruminations of a Wayward Woman. Monday, January 10, 2011. Filing for Unemployment compensation for another year. I really thought I would be able to find a job by now. At least I thought I'd warrant some interviews or make it to the next level of something good. After all, I've got nearly 30 years in my profession, have also worked as a writer, marketing director, TV producer, voiceover talent and I know how to bottle beer. OK, it's time. And the mortgage is due. Im so happy ...

Dancing Again: Full Circle
http://lisacraze.blogspot.com/2010/07/full-circle.html
Remixed Rants, Ramblings and Ruminations of a Wayward Woman. Monday, July 12, 2010. My journey called "Under-Employment" continues. It's been six months since I was released by KOMO and I am so lucky to have been asked by yet another station to fill in for vacation news relief. This time, it's KMPS, Seattle's long-standing Country music leader. And how cool is that? I met a lot of reporters from other stations, including a couple I'm working with now at KIRO. Now, there is a one person news department, n...
Sweet Pea's Mom: How Much Is Too Much?
http://sueromero.blogspot.com/2009/08/how-much-is-too-much.html
Tuesday, August 11, 2009. How Much Is Too Much? I'm already filling in for a co-worker on maternity leave and another one who is on vacation, in addition to doing my own shift. Late yesterday my boss asked me to come in early (during a split shift? Cruel and unusual punishment! To fill-in for yet another co-worker who called in sick. Please let the next three and a-half weeks go faster. That is so cruel to make you do that during a SPLIT SHIFT. Its bad enough, anyway. So terrible, and i relate to...If yo...
Sweet Pea's Mom: February 2009
http://sueromero.blogspot.com/2009_02_01_archive.html
Sunday, February 22, 2009. Why is it, that when you think to yourself "This is a bad idea" you usually go ahead and do it anyway, because you think you'll remember to somehow prevent the inevitable stupid thing from happening? I was about to explode when Ian offered to rinse off the contents of my purse and set them out to dry on the counter. Then he rinsed off the lining of my purse and hung it over the railing on the deck. This is less disastrous than the time I left the coffee mug standing on the floo...

Greek in Paris: MY word of the year
http://colleenhorne.blogspot.com/2009/11/my-word-of-year.html
Nov 18, 2009. MY word of the year. Oxford's word of the year? Unfriend' - as in the term used by social networkers who delete a friend from their list. MY word of the year? Furlough' - which is something that keeps coming back to haunt me and my coworkers. November 18, 2009 at 7:39 AM. Too many good people are being screwed by RESTRUCTURING! Greek in Paris: I got A lathe
http://colleenhorne.blogspot.com/2009/12/i-got-lathe.html
Dec 5, 2009. I got A lathe. I have to be real careful how I say 'I'm a woodworker' or 'I got a lathe' because there are a lot of dirty minds out there! Either way, I got a lathe and I'm super excited (as you can see in the picture above). Not only that, but I need the wood, the brass pieces to make a pen, glue, polish and more. I'm really serious about this hobby, but it's really taking a bite out of my budget! December 5, 2009 at 2:53 PM. December 6, 2009 at 10:48 PM. December 28, 2009 at 6:43 AM.

The Hamon Family
Thursday, April 2, 2015. Good day for a park play date. Just a lovely day at the park with the kids. The kind of normal afternoon we wish for when things are hard, or sad, or face loss. I loved the normalcy and beauty of such a day, especially on Maundy Thursday. Hollyns First Dental Checkup. We were thrilled to have a great checkup for Sadie and a lovely first appointment for Hollyn. Hollyn received a little squeaky giraffe as her reward for "being so brave." She was too funny in the big chair! Sadie ha...

What am I up to? Hi, I’m Kristin! I’m a former radio news reporter, freelance writer, amateur photographer and frugal adventurer.
