Short of emigrating to Canada or Mexico following a possible Trump Presidency, this phenomenon seems to give those of us working in higher education even more import and motivation for our work – building acceptance, understanding, and value for cultural differences through our teaching and research. Archive for October, 2012. Yesterday I tried to hold back my desire to run a faster first half marathon, and hit the 13 mile marker in around 2 hours, 2 minutes; perfect, I thought, I’m right on time, now I’ll see what happens in my body the next two hours! Finish time: 4 hours, 4 minutes, 49 seconds. Somehow, I maintained my pace almost the entire race, with an average of 9:18 min/miles. Just what I’d trained for; I was really satisfied with my performance. I think running a marathon is not ...

Ad astra per aspera. Thursday, October 31, 2013. Thursday, October 24, 2013. Saturday, October 19, 2013. I lay on my mat tonight, eyes closed, limbs trembling, listening to the sound of my breath. Each part has a different feeling, sentiment, and imagery. It's magical really, if you think about it that way. That your breath is like the tide, ebbing and flowing. Rising and receding. Deep, profound, complex, full of life and mystery. It's as if the sea were in you. Wednesday, October 16, 2013. He asked, sl...

Ad astra per aspera. Saturday, June 22, 2013. Walking up, hurried and checking my bank account balance on my phone, I immediately noticed them. My intuition exploded with an unexplainable sense of compassion and urgency. They had said nothing, but something was wrong. There was pain behind those eyes. Her eyes were strong. Achingly resolute. I’d seen that too many times in an all too personal past. 8220;Are you okay? 8221; I said softly, walking closer. 8220;God answers prayer” she said, staring in...

Ad astra per aspera. Saturday, November 9, 2013. To Regret or Not to Regret? In my spare (ha! Time I like to peruse strangers' blogs. I find them an intriguing insight into another's thoughts; it's like a window into someone else's mind. Fascinating. Tonight, I found a hurting blog post who's interpretation of heartbreak made me stop and reflect:. Thoughts: Regret is Just Love Spelled Backwards. People in the end are just a series of events we wish we never experienced.". November 10, 2013 at 12:00 PM.

Ad astra per aspera. Tuesday, March 4, 2014. I need the desert. What do I want? I need to walk and walk and walk and walk. In silence. In hot, sweaty, unbearable silence. I need to trudge, and think, and be. I want to stretch my arms across the mountain ranges and breathe in the vastness of the stars. I want to revel in my humanity and my identity and my own uncomfortable skin. In three months, something will happen. But right now,. I need the desert. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). kristininprogress – I have a blog. Sometimes I update it.
I have a blog. Sometimes I update it. I Was A Responsible Adult. I went to work today. That doesn’t sound particularly impressive, but that’s because you don’t know everything that I know.
