Just another WordPress.com site. 5-B-1: The Magic of Proportions. I know the ratio of blue to pink is 3 to 2 in my perfect mixture. I set that ratio equal to another where I have the amount of blue I have to use (2 quarts) on top, and the unknown amount of pink I need on the bottom. (Like parts of my ratios line up.). I have the equation: 3/2 = 2/x. I use cross products to get a single step equation to solve: 3x = 4. I solve for x by dividing each side by 3 to get x = 1 1/3. The Magic of Proportions.
