Our Journey.

Sunday, August 03, 2014. Making all things new. We are back in Nairobi, and I have to say it feels strange. I was just really hopeful that when we returned from Cape Town (after 3 IVF tries), we would have exciting and happy news to share. I had imagined it in my mind. I had prayed and wished for it. But we are back, and there is only the same sad news. This suffering is producing perseverance.and this perseverance: character. In the end, I'm clinging to the hope that He WILL make all things new! Our Journey.: beautiful Namibia

http://kristivandermerwe.blogspot.com/2012/10/beautiful-namibia.html

Sunday, October 07, 2012. On the living desert tour, we spotted lots of these funny chameleons. Our guide brought food for them, but it was SO cold that many of them didn't even try to eat. Their tongues would move SO slow going for the food! The roads in Namibia are SO desolate. Not many people out and walking around. This is NOT the Africa I am used to (busy roads with pedestrians and bicycles)! We spotted one of these dwarf snakes, and I guess they are rare to spot? Our God is SO creative! The dancing...

Our Journey.: Oh, the places you'll go...

http://kristivandermerwe.blogspot.com/2013/10/oh-places-youll-go.html

Tuesday, October 08, 2013. Oh, the places you'll go. I can't believe its been 6 months since I last blogged. So many things have happened in that time, and we've been so many places- both physically and emotionally! In May, I had my 30th birthday and we celebrated our 7th wedding anniversary here at home in Nairobi! Right after surgery in Cape Town. We were so happy! There to help take care of me after the surgery. It was a sweet time. A winery we visited with my VDM family. Our cabin in Hout Bay. Friend...

Our Journey.: choosing joy

http://kristivandermerwe.blogspot.com/2014/02/choosing-joy.html

Sunday, February 16, 2014. I hope you all had wonderful holiday celebrations with family and friends! I was blessed to be with my family in the US for Thanksgiving and then Ruco’s family (and two of our dear friends) in Nairobi for Christmas! In between those two events, we worked in the Philippines helping with Typhoon Haiyan relief efforts. So, lots of traveling (I know you are surprised). We actually came back to the Philippines for another month. So, that works out to:. We love them so much! Is partn...

Our Journey.: Life, love and infertility...

http://kristivandermerwe.blogspot.com/2013/04/life-love-and-infertility.html

Thursday, April 04, 2013. Life, love and infertility. I haven't blogged in such a long time. I've missed it! It's pretty therapeutic for me to sit and write out my thoughts. Climbing Mt. Longonot here in Kenya! At the Kitingela Glass Company last weekend. We moved here almost 7 months ago now.I can't believe it! We love living closer to Tred again! My sweet friend Heather! Thankful for her friendship here in Nairobi! A photo from my recent trip to South Sudan for work. They got married end of November!

http://mattandlizarnold.blogspot.com/2011/07/may-june-happenings.html

Sunday, July 10, 2011. May and June Happenings. If you're ever in Destin, the is a must-go location. There's also one in Dallas.I'll have to keep that in mind if we ever make a trip up there. Please excuse the poor quality of some of these pictures.they were taken with my iPhone. Another Broken Egg Cafe. The Village of Baytowne Wharf. Fast forward to June when we celebrated Matt's birthday. We had so much dessert! He had no idea! We went to Fogo de Chao for dinner and had so much food! He had no clue!

Inside the World of Matt & Elizabeth: November 2009

http://mattandlizarnold.blogspot.com/2009_11_01_archive.html

Sunday, November 29, 2009. I also blogged about brining. Brining was relatively easy, cheap and definitely worth it - our turkey was the juiciest turkey we've ever tasted, thanks to the brining. Matt, who is not a huge fan of turkey, is now a firm believer in brining. Here is a picture of the end result:. Even the homemade dinner rolls turned out yummy (they can be seen next to the turkey in the picture above). Friday, November 20, 2009. Another technique that I have learned about is brining.

Life to the Fullest: October 2009

http://melsjourney-allons-y.blogspot.com/2009_10_01_archive.html

Life to the Fullest. Living your life for Jesus is truly living your life to the fullest.". Tuesday, October 27, 2009. Today I saw a pair of 1 dollar sandals stolen from a dying man's feet. I saw people vandalizing a wrecked lorry without regard to the dying man laying in the grass within their view. I saw people taking pictures of his wounded head with their cell phones instead of calling for help. I saw a lathargic group of health workers try to avoid treating him. Thursday, October 22, 2009. I do enjo...

I might fire some people up with this one, but here it goes. I felt my temperature rising, but I tried to keep my cool. "What is this guys? Contributed to the saving of many lives, it has also contributed to a culture of hand-outs and short-term projects that have not allowed or encouraged communities to truly develop sustainably and on their own terms. Toit, trenn, kogemused.
