Eén van de opmerkelijke dingen aan reizen doorheen het midden-oosten is het meemaken van een complete aanpassing ieder keer je dat je in een ander land aankomt. Er is niets zo verschillend als Dubai – Jemen of Jemen – Oman. Maar ook Egypte is weer iets helemaal anders dan Oman en zelfs tussen Dubai en Bahrein zijn grote verschillen. Hypocrisie is iets dat je veel tegenkomt in de moslimwereld, vooral dan op het gebied van het toepassen van de Islam in het hedendaags leven. De Verenigde Arabische Emiraten is één van de landen dat de meeste hypocrisie kent. Het lijkt op het eerste gezicht het meest westerse land van alle moslimlanden, maar is juist door die onderliggende hypocrisie misschien wel één van de meer strikte moslimlanden. Maart 8, 2009.
