Observations on growing pecans in Kansas and across middle America. Pecan Nut Casebearer 2016. Tuesday, April 28, 2015. First pistillate flowers visible. Sunday, April 26, 2015. The sun was shinning and the temperature was perfect for grafting pecan trees yesterday. I spent much of the day putting scions on seedling trees using the 3-flap graft. The method I used depended on the size of the stock tree and the diameter of the scionwood I had on hand. Last year, I posted photos of a graft that froze back.
