Real Estate vs. Real Life: Housing Reflection: Summing Up
http://realestatevsreallife.blogspot.com/2012/01/housing-reflection-summing-up.html
Personal Journal: the strategic default of the house we purchased in 2006. Wednesday, January 11, 2012. Housing Reflection: Summing Up. I bought a tree for my husband's birthday. It's a dogwood. He sees it, in the woods or in a yard, and asks me its name nearly every time. "It's a dogwood", I say. He loves them, but can't remember the name, I think because they look different in every season. Home is not a place. Peace can be found during tumult through. I have more fortitude than I thought I did.

Real Estate vs. Real Life: Hurry Up & Wait
http://realestatevsreallife.blogspot.com/2011/07/hurry-up-wait.html
Personal Journal: the strategic default of the house we purchased in 2006. Tuesday, July 12, 2011. Hurry Up and Wait. The papers are signed, all we need to do is wait. The bank will decide, in their time, if they will accept our offer for the house. If the bell is going to ring at your kids school and you are running behind, those few minutes seem lightning-bolt fast. If you are stopped at a stop light, the same amount of time can drag on, and on. If you are carrying your first. A Foreigner at Home.

Real Estate vs. Real Life: Broken Appliances
http://realestatevsreallife.blogspot.com/2011/11/broken-appliances.html
Personal Journal: the strategic default of the house we purchased in 2006. Tuesday, November 22, 2011. Moving is a pain and a part of it is people are weird about their stuff. I'm going to complain a bit. Number one, when we got to our new house last night to do a few chores, we realized that the dishwasher is not hooked up. I was lamenting during escrow that the appliances don't match (OCD) and when we arrived after escrow they did match. Funny? Why would someone do that? To fix it for me. All of this w...

Real Estate vs. Real Life: Giving In
http://realestatevsreallife.blogspot.com/2011/07/giving-in.html
Personal Journal: the strategic default of the house we purchased in 2006. Saturday, July 9, 2011. The timing is terrible for us to buy a house. We are leaving for a long time to go to Eastern Europe. This weekend we will make a short sale offer on the house we live in, for what we feel is a screaming deal! I think we will be fine on the details of the transaction, because it will take a long time to deal with the bank. So there you have it! This house if it is mine. I've had a year to think about it!

Friday, August 29, 2008. Taking the long road…. Hello all, sorry for the long wait. so here it goes. I have traversed from the sea town of Lima to the department of Cajamarca. I am nestled in a town in the middle of the Andes. The views are gorgeous from this remarkable place. View from the road to site. I have been in my site for about 3 days. Needless to say my housing situation is STILL not worked out, but I feel that it will be soon enough. Things ALWAYS work themselves out. It should be good. Been l...

Learning 'The Way'...: May 2008
http://sojournforpeace.blogspot.com/2008_05_01_archive.html
Friday, May 30, 2008. Over the past two months I have tried to see as many people as possible, here is a brief synopsis. First, my wonderful sister Liz came to visit:. She was grumpy some ;-). But we had fun and went camping. Then my brother nate came to see me graduate. Then off to a beach in south carolina. Then to Nashville to see my sister and 'trendy' nephew. Then to DC to see the sites with my folks. Extended family, and all of my MSW co-patriots one last time. Priority three: mental preparation.
