This past weekend we were supposed to board Winnie then drive 8hrs to Banff, Alberta for an Olympic distance triathlon. Somewhere between when we signed up in mid-summer to now, we completely lost our motivation to train for this thing. We did learn that we could, at least separately, swim, bike, and run all the required distances… but together? Heading towards that glacier. View of Middle Joffre Lake.

Winnie hates the car so I had to carry her from the sidewalk back to her seat after we went for a short walk in the Border crossing queue. Once we did make it to the US, we headed for Bellingham, WA to stock up at their glorious Trader Joe’s. We were quite late and worried that our site would no longer be reserved, but in the end we were just fine. We made it all worth it with a hike on Horseshoe Bend.

Perfect for anyone who LOVES chocolate. I think I’ve only made slice and bake cookies a couple of times before. These were easy to slice, though a bit crumbly.
