Deep Sea Water Center. Every spring, Kumejima's evenings come alive with the bright green glow of native Fireflies (hotaru). Just north of the Gushikawa neighborhood is a Museum and Pavilion dedicated to observing some of Kumejima's wildlife. The Kumejima Firefly Pavilion opened in May 2000.
