Both are 60" first generation Kuro 1920x1080p plasma HDTVs. They use the same electronics and the same 8G plasma panels so picture quality and major features are basically the same. The PRO-150 has 3 more specific A/V selection memory presets. The PRO-150 is ISF™ccc Calibration Ready. The PRO-150 has an illuminated remote control.

This makes them 720p versions of the PDP-5010FD and PRO-110FD Kuros. They cost about $2000 less and are about 10 pounds lighter. Can reverse telecine 24 fps (frame per second) film material and display it at a native 72 Hz. A Blu-ray player can transmit a movie over HDMI at its original 24 fps and have a Kuro display this at 72 Hz. This is great and it eliminates the effect of 3:2 pull-down induced film judder. So how can it be determined if a Kuro is being fed a source at a 24 fps rate? I find watch...

At CES 2008 Pioneer announced it's Extreme Contrast Concept Model which is a technological breakthrough that eliminates all idling luminance. This is absolute black. Pioneer stated that "at this moment you can stop measuring contrast ratio because it's officially irrelevant.". See these amazing Gizmodo photos. A couple times at least. The next generation. Absolute black. Sunday, November 30, 2008. The latest report is that the 10G Kuro's will be released in November 2009. This will represent an 18 month development cycle from the previous Kuro 9G release. The 8G to 9G product update had a much shorter 6 month development cycle. Speculation for the extra development time is due to the transition to Panasonic glass. Then now is a perfect time to buy a Pioneer Kuro 9G plasma HDTV. And enjoy it for a whole year before the 10G arrives.

Sharp has announced that it has licensed the Pioneer Elite brand name and will be selling Elite LCD panels latter this year. How "Kuro" they will be remains to be seen.
