Kurt's Sketchbook: September 2008
http://kurtssketchbook.blogspot.com/2008_09_01_archive.html
Sunday, September 28, 2008. This is a doodle from class. It's nothing fancy, but it's the first time I tried the scrubby technique for the tall grass that I learned from Nadia. The masonry turned out kinda cool as well. This one is from a while ago when I was at the beach for a family reunion. It is my family playing cards from across the room. Saturday, September 27, 2008. Having concluded the latest charette in our bus shelter and shelter bus community design project. I present to you my bus shelter from start to finish. Given my site out side the weatherspoon art gallery I knew I immediately wanted it to relate and therefore I thought it should be sculptural, this led to a series of forms which I played around with. With my concept and ideas I began to build my model. Finally I prepared a contextual illustration of the bus shelter as it should appear in its site.

The Storehouse: a hipster haven. These stairs created a nice statement in the space they inhabited and gave good transition from the concrete metal and brick public spaces to the wood private space. In order to keep the occupants from falling their is a railing going around the perimeter of the loft. The design of this sticks with the contemporary feel I was trying to establish and is very industrial, not to mention recyclable thanks to its aluminium construction. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Kurt's Sketchbook: September 2007
http://kurtssketchbook.blogspot.com/2007_09_01_archive.html
Tuesday, September 4, 2007. The way the light spills out of the open doorway is cool I think, it worked out well. The bottom drawings are just old ones inked with dramatic shadowing. We have ways of making you talk.". This is one of my all time favorites, I love how clean the lines are, and all the empty space left on the right side of the page in my sketchbook. I just couldn't bring myself to finish it. Boredom at it's finest. I did these while taking a very boring and dry class on computer networking.

In the future, our group needs to take our designs to the next step past simple aesthetics. The codes and standards that we were able to look up in class gave us some perspective...

Kurt's Sketchbook: February 2008
http://kurtssketchbook.blogspot.com/2008_02_01_archive.html
Wednesday, February 20, 2008. I don't really like them much, but Chart-Pak markers are fun to play around with. Jake showed me a few things about line weight on these, so they became a lot more valuable because of the lessons they represent. I have taken to doodling during lengthy lectures, this being the product of one such occasion. I would say that I was very angry when I drew these two, but that just doesn't quite do it justice.
