This wine represents the top of our stable. The wine is bottle matured a minimum of 12 months prior to release. Lunar Block was purchased on July 20th 1969; the day man walked on the moon and consequently has since been known as 'Lunar Block'. The idea for the formation of the Kurtz Family Vineyards is by no means unique. It commenced from a long family history of growing grapes, drinking the end product and a desire to see wine made exclusively from our own grapes. I first became involved in the Industry working a couple of vintages at Saltram Wines in the Barossa. This was followed by stints at various locations at Orlando Wines. Hopefully this family tradition of growing grapes in the Light Pass area will continue for many vintages to come ...

2004 Vintage Red Wine Blend. A fruit driven wine that is dominated by the berry fruit characteristics of Cabernet Sauvignon and Petite Verdot. A layer of chocolate is gained from the addition of Shiraz and sweetness is apparent on the palate. This wine is not over powered by oak, allowing the fruit to show its full potential. A rich combination of flavours that is ideally suited to current consumption. Is an unusual blend of Cabernet, Shiraz, Petite Verdot and Grenache - but it works. Deceptive!
