BritBonsaiBlog, what else?: A Smattering of Accents
http://britbonsaiblog.blogspot.com/2011/05/smattering-of-accents.html
BritBonsaiBlog, what else? This is not a democracy, this is MY blog. Saturday, 7 May 2011. A Smattering of Accents. These past couple of weeks have been so hot - and so dry - that I positively welcomed last night's deluge. And since today isn't really that much cooler, I look back with a bit of nostalgia to the days when it actually was too damn cold. yep, there's no pleasing some people :D. We have had this guy for a while now, you can see what it looked like in the Spring of 2009 in this post. These ar...
BritBonsaiBlog, what else?: June 2011
http://britbonsaiblog.blogspot.com/2011_06_01_archive.html
BritBonsaiBlog, what else? This is not a democracy, this is MY blog. Wednesday, 15 June 2011. To Sphagnum or not to Sphagnum? That is a rhetorical question, for in no way do I wish to emulate the Bard. (Well, only a little :o). Nor do I wish to make this a 'how-to' post. That was never the purpose of this blog. Loads of other sites on the interwebs for that, some with people advocating their way or no way. And they probably do it with a lot more brio and conviction than I ever will. Before watering, the ...
BritBonsaiBlog, what else?: Moar Pleiones? O yez, moar!
http://britbonsaiblog.blogspot.com/2010/04/moar-pleiones-o-yez-moar.html
BritBonsaiBlog, what else? This is not a democracy, this is MY blog. Tuesday, 13 April 2010. O yez, moar! For some reason, last year's Pleione tongariro post. This pink-flowered one with the red spots on its frilly yellow lip is Pleione Shantung, although we are unsure as to the exact variety. Possibly 'Ridgeway' - but I'm no expert. BritBonsaiBlog, what else?: White Hepatica
http://britbonsaiblog.blogspot.com/2009/02/white-hepatica_27.html
BritBonsaiBlog, what else? This is not a democracy, this is MY blog. Friday, 27 February 2009. This one was the earliest to come into bloom, sort of early February. The flowers are now starting to go over. Oddly enough, leaves were out much the same time as the flowers were. What you also may not have noticed is that it is setting seed again (look at the stalks without petals), so I will have even more white Hepatica on my hands. Breeds like rabbits, this one does. BritBonsaiBlog, what else?: Trees, People, Bath and Rocks: My Day at the Joy of Bonsai
http://britbonsaiblog.blogspot.com/2010/03/trees-people-bath-and-rocks-my-day-at.html
BritBonsaiBlog, what else? This is not a democracy, this is MY blog. Monday, 22 March 2010. Trees, People, Bath and Rocks: My Day at the Joy of Bonsai. Rather than tell a story from the beginning, let me commence sort of a third through the way and wind my way back up to the start. Seem extremely regimented to me. All the creamy yellow/gold Bath stone architecture under the morning sun as you drive down the hill is impressive - but I guess it is a 'you love it or you hate it' sort of thing. This one, cal...
BritBonsaiBlog, what else?: Sum Moar Bonsai Trees? I Haz Dem!
http://britbonsaiblog.blogspot.com/2009/11/sum-moar-bonsai-trees-i-haz-dem.html
BritBonsaiBlog, what else? This is not a democracy, this is MY blog. Thursday, 5 November 2009. Sum Moar Bonsai Trees? So it's not quite the most seasonal set of photos. So what? Call it an autumn clear-out, when I've been going over the e-mails and photo folders to catalogue all the stuff people have sent me over the year. All photos courtesy of Stef, who came to visit us in the summer with Joke, his other half. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Well, life's a b*tch, innit? View my complete profile.
BritBonsaiBlog, what else?: Spring view of another WIP
http://britbonsaiblog.blogspot.com/2010/03/spring-view-of-another-wip.html
BritBonsaiBlog, what else? This is not a democracy, this is MY blog. Saturday, 20 March 2010. Spring view of another WIP. Works In Progress, we haz dem. Big time. This root-over-rock Forsythia has been WIPping around in the garden for nearly 10 years and has never come out on exhibit, as you can clearly see why. We did get a mega-lot of root growth, as there's a whole load of the little buggers trying to escape the edge of the pot on the right,. And BTW, we will be off to Joy of Bonsai at Bath tomorrow, ...
BritBonsaiBlog, what else?: Then and Now: Larches on a Slab
http://britbonsaiblog.blogspot.com/2011/04/then-and-now-larches-on-slab.html
BritBonsaiBlog, what else? This is not a democracy, this is MY blog. Thursday, 21 April 2011. Then and Now: Larches on a Slab. There is a plus side to blogging, I suppose. While blathering nonsense to the ether, I've also wound up with an inadvertent photographic history of the development of some of our trees. Take this European Larch group, for instance. TOH created this planting using a bit of fake slate. This was part of a blog post. Which now looks like this:. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).
BritBonsaiBlog, what else?: Small Bonsai, Small Work?
http://britbonsaiblog.blogspot.com/2010/04/small-bonsai-small-work.html
BritBonsaiBlog, what else? This is not a democracy, this is MY blog. Sunday, 18 April 2010. Small Bonsai, Small Work? TOH and I were recently talking about the amount of maintenance needed for shohin and mame bonsai, and this particular case came to mind as being a good illustration. For some reason or other we've not really paid a lot of attention to this guy's pruning recently. He's not gone out on show for about 2 years now, so I'd say the last time he was re-potted was at least either 3 or 4 year...
BritBonsaiBlog, what else?: Big Buttercup
http://britbonsaiblog.blogspot.com/2009/02/buttercup_27.html
BritBonsaiBlog, what else? This is not a democracy, this is MY blog. Friday, 27 February 2009. This one is Ranunculus ficaria 'Coppernob' and is about 5 in / 13 cm from the base of the pot to the top of the flower. Still it's one of those invasive buttercups given half a chance. The leaves are a bronze / dark green colour, similar to Brazen Hussy and the other bronze varieties. This one propagates itself freely so if you want one, leave me a comment. The joys of bonsai growing. View my complete profile.

Although a Kusamono can be created to fit into the palm of a hand, they are delightful in reminding us of the seasonal changes within nature. These enchanting and compact works begin to develop their own characteristics as you tend them throughout the seasons. In time it is easy to connect to the sort of feelings you already derive from your own full size gardens.
