Heartache At 12 Weeks. At 12 Weeks gestation, we attended the nuchal scan at the hospital maternity unit. We had the combined test which consists of an ultrasound scan and a blood sample from Mum. They take measurements of the baby during the scan, particularly the fluid at the back of the neck. And the blood test looks for hormone levels amongst other things. When they could.
