This Is Bat Country. Random Thoughts and Views by ME, Of no social or intellectual importance. Wednesday, September 13, 2006. Finally back to the city. Sure if I could go back to the mountains, I'd do it in a heartbeat. To the burbs? Maybe when I decide I'm ready to settle down a bit. Posted by DMM @ 10:26 PM. Friday, September 01, 2006. VMA's - What is going on? What value is it for them? Are we seeing the end of the Music video? Bring Back the Music Video, and a station that plays them I say.

A Good Poop Is A Blessing: The Han Solo Chronicles
http://dailybread95.blogspot.com/2013/01/the-han-solo-chronicles.html
The Han Solo Chronicles. I heard a review of the book " Nick And Jake. Apparently it is the fictional coming-together of Nick Carraway (from "The Great Gatsby") and Jake Barnes (from "The Sun Also Rises"). Several other characters from that same literary era make cameo's including Larry Darrell from "Razor's Edge". It is an interesting premise if nothing else. And plays on the Hollywood notion that "sequels sell". Leia walks into the study, "Han, the Scotch again, really? It isn't even noon! The Han Solo...

A Good Poop Is A Blessing: Song Of The Day: Rodriguez - Crucify Your Mind
http://dailybread95.blogspot.com/2012/12/song-of-day-rodriguez-crucify-your-mind.html
Song Of The Day: Rodriguez - Crucify Your Mind. Heard of Sixto Rodriguez for the first time today on NPR. Bob Edwards was interviewing the director of a documentary about Rodriguez, "Searching for Sugarman". He cut a few records in the 70's but was dropped from his label and went to work in construction in his native Detroit. Meanwhile, his music was growing a cult following in South Africa in anti-aparteid circles. And his music is very good. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Bad News, Good Omen.

A Good Poop Is A Blessing: On Skiing and Childhood Humiliations
http://dailybread95.blogspot.com/2013/01/on-humiliation-and-memoir-and-skiing.html
On Skiing and Childhood Humiliations. I just finished Susan Shapiro's NYTimes essay, " Make Me Worried You're Not OK. On writing about humiliations past. She posits that the soul-bearing flop (and transcendent hard-earned lesson thus learned) makes for interesting reading. It made me think about Kaleb and my first skiing trip and our collective humiliations up on Chestnut Mountain. What can you do? Dusted myself off and got in line. When I was a younger guy, this type of humiliation. Kept me from even at...

A Good Poop Is A Blessing: Sometimes It Happened Ten Years Ago Today
http://dailybread95.blogspot.com/2014/09/sometimes-it-happened-ten-years-ago.html
Sometimes It Happened Ten Years Ago Today. I have written about Wilco many times in these pages. The same is true for Kevin and Brett. Wilco's songs have gotten me through some very rough waters, and I am forever grateful to my friend Michael for introducing me to them. Sometimes It Happens" off the 'Whole Love' album stuck in my craw since the first time I heard it. Sometimes it happens that you are friends. And then you are not friends,. And friendship has passed.". And then you are not loved. But as h...

A Good Poop Is A Blessing: AQ, EQ, IQ, UQ and sometimes YQ
http://dailybread95.blogspot.com/2012/12/aq-eq-iq-uq-and-sometimes-yq.html
AQ, EQ, IQ, UQ and sometimes YQ. Reading an article about Biggie Smalls' murder 15 years ago, I came across a term I'd never heard before- the Adversity Quotient. The two topics are more closely linked than you might think. And in light of my personal discovery of the "AQ", I propose the "UQ", and the "YQ". CNNcom had a story about the release of Notorious B.I.G.'s autopsy. 15 years after his murder. He was shot four times, once fatally. In fact, measurement of AQ is a better index in achieving success t...

Chicago seemed ripe for a pseudo phish reunion. Did I continue to watch, patiently and await the return of my favorite band, and have considered starting to donate plasma to save up for what I'm sure will be an expensive ticket assuming they make it back. Thank You Ticket bastard and Scalpers.
