Kyle Bolton: Prisma Has a Website
http://www.kylejbolton.blogspot.com/2013/05/prisma-has-website.html
Sunday, May 19, 2013. Prisma Has a Website. Over the weekend, I've been working on Prisma's web presence. It's based off of Alex's designs. Naturally, there's probably some bugs, because I don't have that much HTML and CSS experience. Therefore, what better way to get a bug report than to put it out there for all to see? I'll continue to work on the site over the next few weeks. There's still a few features I want to add, including a team page and possibly even a new playtester hub.
Kyle Bolton: Better Late Than Never...
http://www.kylejbolton.blogspot.com/2013/11/better-late-than-never.html
Thursday, November 21, 2013. Better Late Than Never. Hello everyone. It's been a long time since my last blog post. I've been incredibly busy the past few months, and haven't had the time to provide an update on the various projects I've been working on. I hate to say, but I've stopped and started this blog post several times for two months now. Which is unfortunate, as a lot of cool things have happened. Buckle in, this could be a long ride. We've also updated the pause menu and end of level menu. B...
Kyle Bolton: Emergent Behaviors of Prisma
http://www.kylejbolton.blogspot.com/2013/02/emergent-behaviors-of-prisma.html
Monday, February 25, 2013. Emergent Behaviors of Prisma. The past couple of weeks have been pretty hectic for Prisma. Since my last blog post, we've made significant progress on art direction, and had another big playtest session (an analysis on that is incoming). During this time, Paul. For example, imagine the following scenario: the player sees a large filtered object, and a smaller constant pushable object. In this case, the primitive cube is the pushable object. Pushable objects have many emergent b...
Kyle Bolton: My Second Attempt at Ludum Dare is About to Begin
http://www.kylejbolton.blogspot.com/2013/12/my-second-attempt-at-ludum-dare-is.html
Friday, December 13, 2013. My Second Attempt at Ludum Dare is About to Begin. It's that time again! As of writing, we're about thirty minutes away from the theme reveal. I'm rather ill prepared for this game jam, so we'll see if I can make it. My last attempt was for LD #26. I've recently released a more polished version of that game on itch.io. I'll try to post regularly on their public blog, so if you want to see any of my in-development ramblings you can find them here. End of Level Menu Mock-up.
Kyle Bolton: ...The Journey Ends [For Now]
http://www.kylejbolton.blogspot.com/2013/06/the-journey-ends-for-now.html
Tuesday, June 4, 2013. The Journey Ends [For Now]. Last week, the SCAD quarter ended. In turn, this means that that the school year concluded, and with it the very rigorous course that was Senior Studio. What does this mean, exactly? Quite simply, it means that Team Prisma has reached an incredibly important milestone: we've "shipped" a fully playable game, which can be downloaded for free at prismagame.com. What We Got Right. One of the things that I'm most proud of with Prisma was how quickly we iterat...

Project Bala: October 2013
http://projectbala.blogspot.com/2013_10_01_archive.html
Sunday, October 27, 2013. This week I'm going to talk a little bit about our goals for this project. Specifically, go into a little more detail about what we plan to deliver at the end of this first quarter (which is 4 weeks away). It perhaps goes without saying that at the very least, the game will be playable (and it already is! In addition, most of the core features will be in place to expand upon in the second quarter. This includes the player's resources, children, and enemies. 1) Ponds: with Water ...

The Art of Game Development: October 2012
http://hanksilmanmedia.blogspot.com/2012_10_01_archive.html
The Art of Game Development. Friday, October 26, 2012. A Delay and a Tall Glass of Water. It's been hectic these last two weeks- work, sleep, work, sleep, repeat. With a surely deteriorating health I press on, for it is the way of development.or so I am told. However, I am going to save any visual progress as to what I'm doing for my next post, which will be by Monday. Consider this a half post of progress to come. Now that that's out of the way how about I actually show some visual and useful? Prisma is...

Kyle J. Brady. Creating Better Contexts for Usability and User Experience Testing. August 28, 2016. November 22, 2016. This technique is somewhat different than the traditional approach used in testing where researchers create a one-size-fits-all context of use and then force the test users into that, potentially, alien context (which, in some cases is necessary). Why do this when one can leverage the story of each individual test user and create a unique context of use based on those stories? It doesn&#...
