Kyle Vee: Whistler Saturday

http://www.kylemtb.blogspot.com/2007/07/whistler-saturday.html

Saturday, July 21, 2007. The first day at Whistler. What a place this is! Nothing at all like the lift access in SoCal. The trails are groomed and designed specifically for biking, what a day of riding! Well be up early checking out our bikes tomorrow. It really not well know to use what damage all this wet and muddy riding will do to our new downhill bikes. July 24, 2007 at 9:26 AM. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Last Day at Whistler Monday. Kyle Vee: Travel Day

http://www.kylemtb.blogspot.com/2007/07/travel-day.html

Thursday, July 19, 2007. Who would figure on traffic leaving LA at 3pm on a Wednesday. I should have. I guess I've never been blessed enough to leave the city that early! I'll have another post tomorrow after meeting up with my brother in Portland! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Last Day at Whistler Monday. View my complete profile.

Kyle Vee: SF to Portland

http://www.kylemtb.blogspot.com/2007/07/sf-to-portland.html

Thursday, July 19, 2007. 12 hours in the car can become a little tiresome. We hit a little traffic leaving SF this morning, then rush hour in Sacramento and the rush hour home in Portland. The drive was beautiful though. After SF we climbed through the mountains near Shasta Lake and it just kept on becoming gradually more green as we headed North up the 5. Were staying right in the village, about 1 kilometer (thats canadian for a half a mile) from the lift. Sshhdon't let everyone know about Portland!

Kyle Vee: Portland to Whistler

http://www.kylemtb.blogspot.com/2007/07/portland-to-whistler.html

Friday, July 20, 2007. Today we left Portland and headed North to our final destination, Whistler BC. I slept really well in the van, in the bottom bunk of Big Red, and let Phil T sleep in the one open bed in the house. This turned out to be a great decision as the house was who knows how many girls living in it and they were continuously cycling through the bedroom all night. July 21, 2007 at 8:07 AM. Kyle Vee: Getting Ready

http://www.kylemtb.blogspot.com/2007/07/getting-ready.html

Monday, July 16, 2007. The launch is just a couple of days away. All 4 bikes are prepared, barring any accidents between now and Wednesday, and the schedule set for this MTB adventure. The plan is to head up the coast, stopping at San Francisco (riding Marin Thursday) then Portland on Friday (riding somewhere) then on to Whistler BC for some real downhill action. We'll be there from Friday through Tuesday, when we leave for Lake Tahoe. We'll get some. Have a great time and stay safe!

Escape Route Report: April 2008

Matt's friend James "pole vaults" it. Matt's other friend floatin' it, stylin'. This pic of Matt shows a good perspective of how big the jump is. I couldn't quite match the style of the young guns, but I did clear the jump. Not bad considering I am more than twice their age. Links to this post. Castillo Ranch - in April. Glen Helen AMA Pro National MX 2008. This weekend marked the kick-off of the Pro National MX. Series. We have a tradition of riding Saturday morning, then camping out and watching the pros race on Sunday. Good times. Was in excellent condition on Saturday. Rain the day before and unseasonably cool temps kept the track loamy all day. Here I do my best to look fast for Mick's camera. This year we got a premium spot for Mick's trailer. "Penthouse" view for the Nationals on Sunday. Links to this post. Friday...

While waiting for the snow to melt up in the mountains we've been relegated to riding in the desert foothills. We stumbled on a great area near Apple Valley/Hesperia that we dubbed Romance Canyon. It's yielded some great wheelies, as Daren McFall, aka The Cowboy, demonstrates. But alas, Spring is upon us. The snow will melt and the mountain trails will beckon . Keyesville season soon. Escape Route Report: Mammoth Mountain Biking - Part 1

http://escaperoutereport.blogspot.com/2008/06/mammoth-mountain-biking-part-1.html

Mammoth Mountain Biking - Part 1. Well, of course there had to be some mountain biking this week! Doug, Jeff, Tati. And I did the Mammoth Rock Trail. And then I took John and Ivan on the same trail.  Check out the difference in the sky.  Smoke from all the wildfires in California had blown in. With Mammoth Rock in the background we head out through the meadow to Hidden Lake. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Mammoth Mountain Biking - Part 1. Twin Lakes Chapel Check. Thursday and Friday are practice days at Mammoth MX. Track is fully prepped and watered all day. For the Double D Death Ride (Doug and my bachelor party) Dax. Had his mom sew up these "flight suits" for the Mag 5. (The Mag 5 is a revolving crew of riding buddies). Labor Day Weekend 07 - Day 3. 2nd day at Northstar. We loved this place! It actually rained a bit in the morning which made the trail conditions better than perfect! Meandering trail through the pines. Tati on one of the big berms on Live Wire. Live Wire was more like a motocross track than a trail. A bunch of perfect table top jumps and big banked corners. So much fun. A view up the Live Wire run. Our buddy Daren met us out there for the day. Smiles all around! Fun little rock "feature.". Friends Jennif...

Escape Route Report: Mammoth MX 2008 - Race Day 2

http://escaperoutereport.blogspot.com/2008/06/mammoth-mx-race-day-2.html

Mammoth MX 2008 - Race Day 2. This year happened to be a year that a bunch of my friends also raced.  For sure the biggest turnout of my buddies at Mammoth ever.  I gotta say though, we missed B-Rad, Keating. I think I got a picture of just about everyone, see below in alphabetical order (first name). Were this close all weekend.  Dowdy got the best of MC this year.  Amazing considering he also won the 40 Expert class. I love the picture below.  It really captures the essence of Mammoth MX.

One team member starts on the bike , the other starts running. Each mile there is an obstacle and you switch from running to biking. The last obstacle is a big mud pit that you have to cross with your teammate. We ended up finishing in 01:00:05, good for 19th out of 67 in our class. Marlon and his Dad Eric competed as a team. Escape Route Report: January 2008

http://escaperoutereport.blogspot.com/2008_01_01_archive.html

Christmas Vacation and New Years in Oregon. We spent the first two days of our trip in Portland. Very cool "little-big" town. Of course it rained a lot, but we took the opportunity to talk about wedding plans, and just enjoy each other's company. We found a very hip little coffee shop that would make cute designs in your mochas. A heart and a leaf. Awwww. I couldn't resist modifying it a little bit. Had some Cuban food. D-lish. We checked out the very cool and trendy Doug Fir bar. Dan, Chris, Doug. View ...

February 21, 2016. Ed note: I wrote the following about my friend Shawn after his death two years ago. Today is Shawn’s birthday – he would have been 34. As much as I miss him, I thank God for the time we had together. There was no one quite like Shawnie. God created Shawn for this. As anyone who knew Shawn will tell you, he had a unique way of connecting with people, endearing himself in only a few minutes, making complete strangers instantly comfortable. I recall very early in my first weeks at United,...
