An Unexpected Guest « The Sunny Side

Chlorophylled ramblings for plant lovers. April 27, 2014. This winter I experimented by planting some plug plants, the idea being to grow them to maturity by planting time, and save money. In January the box of plugs arrived from Florida with much fanfare. I opened the box and was greeted by the optimistic foliage of some diminutive perennial geraniums, a ray of hope that pierced the heavy grey skies of a very long winter. 8221; I then had to tell him the rest of the story. Chlorophylled ramblings for plant lovers. March 2, 2014. In the spring, it’s all about new beginnings, promise, and potential, and all jobs are more pleasant. I relish the first scratches, bruises, and sore muscles of the season. All are satisfying reminders that despite the snow (which is actually very good for the garden as it insulates the plants and provides them with needed nitrogen) the garden will be ready for action in a matter of weeks. So look out, grape vines, here I come! A Blog is Born.

Chlorophylled ramblings for plant lovers. Monthly Archives: March 2014. March 17, 2014. I was going to write this blog entry about a gardening tool that I am particularly fond of, but I have become obsessed with the Strangler Fig lately and so I’m going to write about that instead and will leave writing about my favorite tool for another time. A topnotch WordPress.com site. Pruning and Thinning in Late Winter (keeping your woodlands under control). February 25, 2014. At this time of year, it is easier to see with no leaves on the trees, and it may be easier to do the work if the ground is frozen. So how do we keep it that way? Nice companion plants found by accident. My Grandfa...
