Although shooting Milky Way photographs has become possible with modern DSLR cameras, deep-sky astrophotography still requires specialized equipment and extreme proficiency in digital imaging. Kizny’s experience spans across both areas, but interestingly, his path started with deep-sky imaging. Building a remotely-controlled observatory back in 2007 allowed him to gather experience in deep-sky and narrowband imaging using scientific instruments and take breathtaking images of galaxies and nebulae.
