http://taufmonster.blogspot.com/2015/01/the-core-loop-vs-revenue-funnel.html
More than you can bear. 20 Days of WoW. Wednesday, January 7, 2015. The Core Loop vs The Revenue Funnel. Here are some thoughts I had the other day about F2P game design as "loops" versus the common analytical tool of a "funnel" and how the design goals of these games collide against the business decision of being F2P. For more ideas of what a "core loop" is, a Google Image search will give you lots of examples. Something I've been thinking about a lot is Loops vs Funnels. 8212; Tech Warker (@taufmonster...

Taufmonster's Log: The Next-Gen Systems: The PS4, XBox One, and WiiU
http://taufmonster.blogspot.com/2013/06/the-next-gen-systems-ps4-xbox-one-and.html
More than you can bear. 20 Days of WoW. Wednesday, June 5, 2013. The Next-Gen Systems: The PS4, XBox One, and WiiU. Controller comparison not to scale. The WiiU pad is HUGE. Nintendo has embraced the second-screen the most with its inclusion in the default controller for the WiiU. Having already had some experience using it I can say that it allows for some very interesting designs. Nintendo Land. Really shows off some of its potential, but other games like New Super Mario Bros. U. Would be a core part o...

As you may have noticed in my earlier blog posts, I've changed servers on a couple characters recently. Upon logging into both of those characters I realized something horrible. The worst thing possible had happened. All of my macros were gone. I thought, "There must be a better way." Lo and behold, there was. This will definit...

Taufmonster's Log: Pandemic: The Cure - standard deviation and probability
http://taufmonster.blogspot.com/2015/02/pandemic-cure-on-probability.html
More than you can bear. 20 Days of WoW. Monday, February 2, 2015. Pandemic: The Cure - standard deviation and probability. Bottling up the diseases is great because it removes that disease die from play and helps you discover the cure, but until you discover the cure that die of yours you used to "bottle" it up is locked up and you can't use it, meaning you'll have fewer possible actions on your turn, making you less effective until the cure is discovered. You'll see that for certain numbers of dice and ...

http://taufmonster.blogspot.com/2011/06/why-i-love-smaller-games.html
More than you can bear. 20 Days of WoW. Saturday, June 18, 2011. Why I Love Smaller Games. I love smaller games such as PSN downloads, indie titles, DS/PSP games, and mobile games. I've spent far more on these games in the past 5 years than I have on "full priced" games. Low Risk, High Reward. A Matter of Genre. I like the smaller games because they tend to be different. They take more risks. I've been playing games for a long time and the types of games that tend to be made into full-sized games...Bigge...
