Monday, May 25, 2009. This is a great Spring-time dessert. Strawberries are coming into season in May and last throughout the summer. My particular favorite is to use locally grown Strawberries, which unfortunately are only available May - early June. So I'm slowly starting to add breads into the mix. once I realized I could make challah, I felt I could make anything! Its still a talent in progress but I'm totally comfortable with making Challah - and its a fantastic spring time bread! I've heard it also makes great french toast. Its almost our mom's 60th birthday, so I figured I better get back to food blogging as this site is a homage to her! Sauteed Chard over Creamy Polenta. 1-2 bunches of swiss chard (depending on size, it wilts like spinach when cooked). 1/2 smallish red onion, thinly sliced. 2 cloves garlic, minced. 1 T olive oil. 1/3 c white wine (water or chicken stock work fine as well). Kosher salt and pepper.

Italian Sausage and Fennel Risotto. So on a whim - I decided I wanted to use up my leftover Italian sausage and make risotto with it. started brainstorming on what I thought would go well with it and I thought - fennel and apples! So I set out to get a few extra groceries and stop by the wine store to pick up a nice dry white to go with it and came home to create my dinner. Italian Sausage and Fennel Risotto. 1/2lb Italian Sausage (i used 2 links). 1 large shallot, finely chopped. 1 cup arborio rice.

But I feel like these homemade ingredients are far better than purchasing store bought. 1lb pizza dough, thawed if frozen. 1/2lb fresh mozzerella (or shredded if you can't find fresh). Flour for rolling out pizza dough. Any assortment of ingredients such as these (which are the ones we used):. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Let the dough rest a few minutes and try again. Ponzu Sesame Seared Tuna with Zucchini and Sweet Onion Sautee. To make the meal complete, I cooked up some brown basamati rice (any rice would work, but thats what we had in the pantry) and served it on the side with the zucchini. Salmon with Beets and Lentils. Can you get a healthier dish than that? Please - I'd like to see you try! It has to taste delicious! None of these strange sprouted bean lentil walnut no taste bland whatever things. something that manages to be nicely well rounded. where you get sweetness from the fish and beets, tartness from the vinegar and beet greens, and just whatever lentils taste like. Saltiness? Oh not to mention, they're loaded with healthy proteins, iron, fiber, and magnesium. and super cheap!
