Ladies in the Garden

Ladies in the Garden. Learning about chicken keeping and garden improvement. Monday, December 16, 2013. Busy, Busy, Busy. As the title says, it has been rather busy not so much for the Ladies but more so for their owner. The hens have come back into lay, hatched a few babies and returning to laying and of course broodiness. Some of them are very keen to raise as many babies as possible. Perhaps it also depends on the breed? A three year ISA brown hybrid hen is much different to an Old English Game hen.

Ladies in the Garden. Learning about chicken keeping and garden improvement. Friday, October 7, 2011. Grumpy, Happy, Sneezy and Creamy? Dottie is sitting on fertile eggs. Not just any eggs, inside these eggs are potential show champions! It will be great to see all the different colours too. Fingers crossed it all goes well! She was such a fiesty teenager, perhaps motherhood will turn her into a feathery bundle of love. Laydee has made a complete recovery! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Ladies in the Garden.

Ladies in the Garden: Talk to the animals

http://www.ladiesinthegarden.blogspot.com/2013/03/talk-to-animals.html

Ladies in the Garden. Learning about chicken keeping and garden improvement. Saturday, March 23, 2013. Talk to the animals. Do you talk to you pets? Maybe your dog or cat? What about your poultry? Without realizing I've find myself chatting to the ducks and hens. Hens turn their heads, look at your face and seem to 'speak' at the appropriate time. A typical conversation goes as follows:. Me: hello Mackles, you are looking much better after your moult. Me: When are you going to lay me another egg? Well, w...

http://www.ladiesinthegarden.blogspot.com/2013/03/duck-duck-duck-chook.html

Ladies in the Garden. Learning about chicken keeping and garden improvement. Friday, March 1, 2013. Duck, Duck, Duck CHOOK! Things have been very busy for me of late. The Ladies have been doing what chooks do plus a little bit more ;-). Dottie incubated and hatched 10 out of 12 Khaki Campbell Ducklings eggsin December. Ted Carter kindly allowed me to purchase them from him. All from his white line and are stunning creatures. I am hopeful for some awards in the upcoming poultry show. Ladies in the Garden.

The Musings of Maggie. Mildly Muddled Moderately Manic. A Box of Whistles. Sustainable, not Fanatical. Why do good people suffer? A Box of Whistles. The first time I recall Dad bringing home some day old chicks, he arrived home one afternoon and got out of his car carrying a small cardboard box, about the size of a shoe box. As he walked into the house, the box was cheeping and chirping. Being a curious seven year old, I asked him. “What’s that you’ve got, Dad? 8220;A box of whistles,” he replied. They a...
