On cycling, computing and parenthood. I’ve joined Twitter! Lunchtime ride with sports drink. Tuesday 27 April, 2010. I headed out today for my first lap since last Thursday. I didn’t ride at lunchtime yesterday as my legs were still aching from a hard day’s gardening on Saturday. Conditions were great today. It was about 22 degrees Celsius with a south-westerly. I could definitely feel the effects of the wind, but riding against it wasn’t too bad. So today I mixed up a dose of High5 EnergySource. Followi...

The Wheeled Weenie: January 2011
http://wheeledweenie.blogspot.com/2011_01_01_archive.html
Woman, on a bike, in west London, just trying to get around. Monday, 24 January 2011. The dry shampoo revolution. I like to think I've played a part in this. I've been banging on about it to friends and family for years. Since I started cycling it's been a constant pannier essential in the battle against helmet hair. With so many brands now jumping on board I'd advise anyone to give it a go. You'd be surprised at how much it can pep up your hair after a long ride. Links to this post. Why I love Mr Weenie.

Woman, on a bike, in west London, just trying to get around. So you've decided to cycle. Congratulations, you'll be entering an exciting new world with a complicated social structure and endless stuff to lust after and purchase. Before we get too excited however, let us all remember just how scary and bamboozling it can all be. Anyhoo, here are some of my top tips:. Don't be put off by scary cyclists. Don't be embarrassed, ask questions. No one is born with the knowledge that the rear brake is on the lef...

Late night on Monday I moved in for a cuddle with Mr Weenie to be met with 'Wow, it's like a bowling ball! It's all hard and you're so much heavier.' Bastard. At 1010am I was nearly at work. The Wheeled Weenie: February 2011
http://wheeledweenie.blogspot.com/2011_02_01_archive.html
Woman, on a bike, in west London, just trying to get around. Thursday, 24 February 2011. I'm a horribly neglectful blogger. As you can imagine, it's been somewhat difficult to blog for the last few months as I'm not cycling and am knackered all the time. I also have that elusive and mythical problem: babybrain. I have, in the past, been doubtful that such a phenomenon exists, but it clearly does. I've chatted gaily to people on the bus only to think vaguely as I disembark 'Who on earth was that? Expect t...

The Wheeled Weenie: The FNRttC
http://wheeledweenie.blogspot.com/p/fnrttc.html
Woman, on a bike, in west London, just trying to get around. The Friday Night Ride to the Coast (or FNRttC) was started by intrepid cyclists from the Cheam and Morden CTC. The group cycles around once a month (skipping the coldest dates in winter). The routes always start from Hyde Park Corner at midnight and end in various seaside resorts, including Bognor, Whitstable, Brighton and Southend. At least one a year is a 'genteel ride' that aims for 'conversational' speed. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Where i...
