A few weekends ago my friend anning came to visit all the way from.georgia, one of our bordering states! I showed her the ocean for the very first time, and lots of waterfront shopping ensued. i even tried enticing her to engage in the sport of crabbing ('tried' being the key word). nonetheless, it was great to visit and reminisce with each other, as our friendship dates back 11 years! Next time it's my turn to leave the first in flight state and get a taste of those georgia peaches, authentically.

Responding to the much-requested puppy photos, here you all go! Sizing up the towering giant in retrospect to the puppy crate some friends of ours lent us to bring shirley home in.needless to say, she didn't fit in it at all! We couldn't even stuff her in there.so she instead had to luxuriously sit in the front passenger seat, accompanied by ducky. Sloppy (g.i.) janes. Yesterday my friend and i raced (or, participated. Is probably a better verb choice) in the stone bay mud run on base at camp lejeune. it was a 4-mile off-road, obstacle-laden course at the stone bay rifle range. along the winding mud-ridden forest paths were obstacles including fallen tree hurdles, tire agility, hills galore, scaling walls, tunnels, multiple mud pits and crawling through mud under a netted (apparently barbed wire was a safety concern? One of the mud pit rivers.

After only having shirley for a few days we tried to give her a bath outside.that didn't fly with her.at the time she hated water and the hose scared her (and the cold water).this past weekend we tackled bathing her again, but attempt #2 was done a)inside in a tub, b)with warm water, and c)with doggie oatmeal shampoo. results = success! She was very cooperative and didn't even try to escape from the bathtub. very impressive! Needless to say, she was rewarded with a few doggie treats :). Next feat: introd...

Superglue and spools : buttons. Sewing machine = best investment ever. every time i sew something new, i think of the price comparison with how it would be marked in retail and it just makes my day! Fabric is expensive but if you know where to look and wait for the deals, it's well worth it.though it means lots of impatient waiting inbetween.but that doesn't stop the inspiration from streaming :) buttons are my latest fad, and knobs are a close second! More projects are already queued up!

Arctic land and snowflakes. Needless to say, shirley knows very well she's not in kansas (er, north carolina) anymore. no more palm trees, no more beach sand, no more salty ocean water, and DEFINITELY no more sandals and shorts weather.for now. it seems she has acclimated better than expected and actually likes snow just as much as sand! After over a year, we finally. Planted in our big pot! We were waiting for the perfect pair and a little gem magnolia tree is it. petite, fragrant, and aesthetically delightful! Next on the list: herbs and veggies :). Coast, cotton and crab.
