La Junta Heritage Center (La Junta) seeks to revive viable agriculture in Presidio Valley. These factors have created a vicious cycle, prompting talented professionals to leave Presidio Valley for opportunities elsewhere. As a result, the community has become one of the most economically challenged, underserved in Texas, with an unemployment rate of almost 13%, compared to 7% statewide. This test case is the beginning of a series of projects aimed to help revive an important area of West Texas.
