Evaluating our Definitions: Equations and Functions. October 18, 2009 @ 10:25 pm. 183; { Evaluating our Definitions. After reviewing my classmates post, I would alter my equation definition by adding a picture of a sale similar to that of Lou Ann’s, as well as include the fact that is could be an expression on either side of the equal sign. As far as function, I would leave that definition alone. It is pretty similar to others shown, where there is one output for each input. 1 Comment ». 183; { TrackBack.

Just another WordPress.com weblog. Laquo; Evaluating Our Definitions: Equations and Functions. When I introduce factoring to my classes, I go thru very similar steps with them. When I factor I always think thru these steps as well. I am not sure that the steps helped me internalize the concepts more, but I do think that breaking factoring into steps helps students internalize the concepts. Factoring Quadratics | Lou Ann's Blog

Lou Ann's Blog. On: November 5, 2009. To begin with a basic quadratic is used, ax. Bx c where a = 1. I do not group problems according to the addition/subtraction patterns. I think it gives the students the perception that there are several different rules to learn. Next they look at the sign in front of c to put the correct signs in front of the factors. If it is a plus sign they know that the factors have the same sign. Fill in the parentheses with (x 1. 4 is already a factor, so we have them all.
