Monday, January 26, 2015. A special Sun Pillar display took place just before today's 7:16 AM sunrise. Two photos were manually exposed to show how the display appeared visually. The. 3rd darker one is exposed to avoid any colors going white. Sun Pillars (or Light Pillars if produced by street lights, Lunar if from the moon, etc.) are reflections from tiny hexagonal plate-like ice crystals in the earth's air. One can also observe.
