Friday, January 10, 2014. Blessings During a Difficult Time. In the last three weeks, I have been blessed by and with:. Lunches with friends that give me a reason to leave the hospital room for an hour or two and be distracted by interesting people and conversation. Phone calls from concerned friends and family, near and far. Even if I don't feel much like talking, or don't answer the phone, the contact is comforting. Text messages (see phone calls). Nurses in the ICU who answer my questions. The Caring ...

Stray Carrier Pigeon: Veggie Month: Spinach
http://straycarrierpigeon.blogspot.com/2010/02/veggie-month-spinach.html
Friday, February 26, 2010. Shown minus the first of many pieces that would be eaten tonight.). I made this recipe in December for my end-of-class party. The students ate the whole thing, so Bryan didn't get to try it. Tonight, he had two servings. (Me, too.). The only changes I made to this recipe. Were to use egg whites and skip the butter. It still had enough good stuff to make it tasty- cheese and a pie crust- but wasn't too dense like quiche can sometimes be. Posted by Michelle Panik.

Visceral Musings: September 2014
http://visceralmusings.blogspot.com/2014_09_01_archive.html
Tuesday, September 16, 2014. In case you haven't heard, Mendocino College hired me to teach full-time beginning this fall. You can call me Professor Buccelli. Really. My official title, once the Academic Senate approves it, will be Associate Professor of English. My new business cards already proclaim me, Ginny Buccelli, Professor of English. I'm just delighted. Tenure here I come! Learning the new faces, rules, resources, politics, and expectations offers a few minor challenges. Keeping my mouth shu...

Visceral Musings: A year in the life
http://visceralmusings.blogspot.com/2014/12/a-year-in-life.html
Wednesday, December 31, 2014. A year in the life. A lot has changed in one short year. Despite the fact that 2014 began on a downbeat, it has picked up the tempo nicely. A year ago today, my honey was on a respirator fighting for his life. While I was loath to admit it, I was nearly certain that he wouldn't survive. I've never been so happy to be wrong. This is all so wonderful to hear! January 4, 2015 at 7:15 PM. I have just discovered your blog while continuing to procrastinate writing my syllabi. ...

Starry Knit: December 2011
http://starryknit.blogspot.com/2011_12_01_archive.html
A knitting and spinning blog with occasional ramblings about life. A way for me to feel connected to people. Friday, December 9, 2011. Holiday Problems and Solutions. Need to discourage the cat from getting too fresh with the Christmas tree. The thought of all the social activities of the season, and the end-of-the-year responsibilities of our jobs is causing the spouse and I to break out into hives. For this one particular yarn. No, this isn't all that I bought. Decide that maybe I should knit something...

Visceral Musings: House Hunting Chronicles: Online Pictures: the Good, the Bad and the Creepy
http://visceralmusings.blogspot.com/2015/06/house-hunting-chronicles-online.html
Friday, June 5, 2015. House Hunting Chronicles: Online Pictures: the Good, the Bad and the Creepy. Online pictures are deceptive in multiple ways; the often make the homes look bigger and brighter than real life; sometimes you can tell that a special distortion lens was used; I mean, how many rooms have rounded edges? Scent doesn't translate visually, so we can't see the pervasive bleach smells that will push me back out a door faster that you can say interest rate increase. Bleach often signals to m...

Visceral Musings: September 2013
http://visceralmusings.blogspot.com/2013_09_01_archive.html
Sunday, September 22, 2013. I was originally going to title this post "Heartbeat," since it was a palpitating heart that led me to the doctor's office, then the ER, then an overnight stay in the hospital. But the over-riding emotion that I carried during the entire ordeal was annoyance, hence the new title. You know that quick fluttering that you feel in your heart sometimes? I really, really didn't want to work that day; it was post-Labor Day Tuesday, and who wants to work that day? In the ER, I was giv...

One writer's journey against the tide. Food Stamp Zen →. April 10, 2015. I swam to the bottom of a shallow end. And hit my head. When I bleed you can see it. Rise up red in the water.
