Wild Rose Pastures: Closet, Green Boy Quilt, and Jenga
http://wildrosepastures.blogspot.com/2015/07/closet-green-boy-quilt-and-jenga.html
Saturday, July 25, 2015. Closet, Green Boy Quilt, and Jenga. Adjusting to the new house is going well, it's kind of nice we are close to the cattle when they are in some pastures. One morning I woke up to this outside our window; all of the calves were just hanging out in the sunrise. Obviously I took that picture through the screen on the window, sorry about that. Here's the back, pieced with scraps:. And a detail with the tag. The kids are doing well, here they are playing in the sandbox:. It was a bea...

Wild Rose Pastures: Quilt Step Three & Applesauce
http://wildrosepastures.blogspot.com/2010/09/quilt-step-three-applesauce.html
Sunday, September 26, 2010. Quilt Step Three and Applesauce. So yes, when I tell people that quilting is like engineering, this is one of my reasons! My scale drawing helps me figure out how to lay out and cut my fabric when it comes time to do so. Part of eating locally is definitely storing food. Whether that be freezing, canning, drying, whatever. So I have a friend who has an apple tree (or 6! Step two is to throw the apple pieces into the food processor and chop fairly finely. The raw chopped apples.

Wild Rose Pastures: Concrete, Grading, and Field Day
http://wildrosepastures.blogspot.com/2015/06/concrete-grading-and-field-day.html
Sunday, June 28, 2015. Concrete, Grading, and Field Day. House changes are definitely more subtle now, the latest is getting the grading done around the house and putting in our concrete. It's very nice to have the use of our front door now and it's also helping a lot with the mud. Here H is modeling one of our retaining walls, which was part of the grading work. Here Z enjoys the freshly poured concrete ramp out front. I was helping gather posts for him. Z and H were out there "helping" too. Here H foun...

Wild Rose Pastures: Barn Raising & Cubicle Quilt
http://wildrosepastures.blogspot.com/2011/06/barn-raising-cubicle-quilt.html
Sunday, June 12, 2011. Barn Raising and Cubicle Quilt. Let me start by saying that people are awesome. I expressed a plea at work in our Friday morning staff meeting for help with framing our building, and lo and behold two of my co-workers were game! One brought his fiancé and we also had Jim out to help. Our farm would not run without that man and this was yet one more thing where he knew all sorts of useful things! The pattern is Modern Pickle Relish and their pattern shop can be found here. Wild Rose...

Wild Rose Pastures: Braided Spiral & Baby Shower quilts
http://wildrosepastures.blogspot.com/2011/02/braided-spiral-baby-shower-quilts.html
Tuesday, February 8, 2011. Braided Spiral and Baby Shower quilts. It's been a productive couple of days. First, I finished my braided spiral quilt, which I hope will someday go on Hazel's "big girl" bed. It's 60" x 80" so it's the biggest quilt I've made since my wedding quilt. This fabric came from my mom's first cruise to Alaska in August 2008. I started it before I went on that same cruise with her in August 2009. So now in February 2011 it's done! I used the patterns wave chain. This quilt is made up...

Wild Rose Pastures: March 2015
http://wildrosepastures.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html
Sunday, March 22, 2015. Things keep on moving along, in the last two weeks we had spray foam insulation installed in the house. We actually did a sealed option where the attic becomes a semi-conditioned space and is not vented. It's a little different than the "standard" way of doing things, but there are some advantages to it and I think it will work out. Here is the picture of the underside of the roof after being sprayed:. Sorry I haven't taken many pictures of the kids in the last couple of weeks, bu...

Wild Rose Pastures: June Exchange & Another Quilt Relish
http://wildrosepastures.blogspot.com/2011/06/june-exchange-another-quilt-relish.html
Thursday, June 23, 2011. June Exchange and Another Quilt Relish. I signed up for a June Craft gift exchange thing this year, from the Craftaholics Anonymous. Blog Not quite sure what possessed me, but I thought it would be fun. Anyway, it's in the mail now, my gifting partner was someone who likes all the owl patterns that are hot right now and is also a Scentsy. Dealer. So I made her a candle mat from an original pattern. The owls are appliqued with button eyes, the rest is all free motion quilted in.

Wild Rose Pastures: Paint and Cementboard
http://wildrosepastures.blogspot.com/2015/04/paint-and-cementboard.html
Saturday, April 18, 2015. It's been another busy couple of weeks on the farm and the house. First, we have had a couple of calves in the cow herd, which is good news. The herd has so far done well with us only visiting it every few days. On the house front, the drywall got all finished up. And then it got textured. And then we tested some paint swatches on it. And then we painted it. Living room on right, kitchen on the left:. Living/Dining room and Great Room:. No, the kids didn't help. Yes, they di...
