Let's just be honest. It makes living worthwhile. Around the world and back again. Of parsnips and great men. March 11, 2013. We burned the parsnips. Two weeks shy of his 91st birthday, he wasn’t OK anymore. My hand was on my front door knob the moment he died. My dog was leashed behind me, waiting to follow me inside. The air was humid and thick; my husband was watching baseball upstairs. I could hear the pitch count: 1 ball, 2 strikes. I don’t have a grandfather anymore. Honey, it was a beautiful death.
