Land of Tamara: Just In Case I Was Feeling Too Good About Myself...
http://landoftamara.blogspot.com/2012/01/just-in-case-i-was-feeling-too-good.html
Monday, January 30, 2012. Just In Case I Was Feeling Too Good About Myself. Have I mentioned that I started taking karate with my son? Sheesh. In case you don't know me that well, I'm not really the karate type. But Eli asked. And asked. And asked. And asked some more. So finally I gave in. And so tonight, just when I was feeling like maybe not the newest 40 year old fat lady in a class full of 10 year-olds with infinite energy, I got the hang of, well, yelling. And "Aaayyyyy" and "Haaayy-Yaaaaahh! I did...

Land of Tamara: Turns Out I'm Beautiful
http://landoftamara.blogspot.com/2013/05/turns-out-im-beautiful.html
Friday, May 10, 2013. Turns Out I'm Beautiful. See, just look at me. Here's my likeness according to Eli. Crazy brown hair, green eyes, prominent nose, slightly crooked. Mouth In addition to this portrait he drew for Mother's day, he penned a poem:. The most important thing about my mom is that she takes good care of me. She is kind and sweet. And she is funny and smart. She can cook really well. And she can work with computers. But the most important thing about my mom is that she takes care of me.

Land of Tamara: Meet Stevie
http://landoftamara.blogspot.com/2013/04/meet-stevie.html
Tuesday, April 23, 2013. I took her to vet . They ran some tests and let some time pass to rule out rabies. Indeed they ruled out the big problems, but Stevie is… special. They call it neurological, which apparently means to a vet that there is something wrong with her brain and they’re not sure what. We’re pretty sure she’s deaf. And she’s just kinda weird. Land of Tamara: The Red Dog
http://landoftamara.blogspot.com/2010/02/red-dog.html
Monday, February 22, 2010. We've had to give away the Red Dog. He's been a really, really good dog for the most part. If nothing else, he kept the floor clean of random morsels around the kitchen table. He is sweet, loving, and perhaps protective, or too much so. With age, he has become far too impatient with kids, even our own. But he nipped at Lena late last week, enough to draw blood and bruise her. That does it for me. We're not going to wait for something worse to happen. Look at that face, How it t...

Land of Tamara: Good Guys and Bad Guys
http://landoftamara.blogspot.com/2013/05/good-guys-and-bad-guys.html
Friday, May 17, 2013. Good Guys and Bad Guys. The Boston marathon bombings and the ricin mailings occurred within days of each other. A few days after the events, we heard an update on the news about the attempted ricin attacks. These events profoundly disturbed Eli. We listened to the radio and he asked questions. 8220;Did they catch that bad guy, mom? 8220;Not yet, Eli. But they’re trying to.”. 8220;Well, where is he? 8220;Mom, come on. Like there’s TWO crazy people out there? On the same day? 8220;Ok,...

Land of Tamara: Meet Breezy
http://landoftamara.blogspot.com/2013/04/meet-breezy.html
Friday, April 19, 2013. We’ve had her for over a year now. Got her on St. Patrick’s day of 2012 from Austin Pets Alive. Supposedly mostly Pit Bull, Breezy has proven to be incredibly submissive, to other animals and people. She’s been great with the kids and with strangers too. I don’t think she’ll be saving any lives or halting any burglaries, but you never know. Unlike the Red Dog. She’s not once made an aggressive move, not toward me or the kids. She seems too perfect to let go. The Days of Abandonment.

Thursday, April 29, 2010. On Tuesday, I finished out another wonderful semester teaching English as a Second Language, Level 3, at El Buen Samaritano. It was an excellent class. Here I am with my students. There were only seven remaining by the end of the semester, all women. Beautiful ladies every one and we had a great time. It was a great class! Links to this post. Wednesday, April 28, 2010. Unbelievably, she's five. Links to this post. Thursday, April 15, 2010. As per the Texas tradition in Spring.
