Tuesday, June 29, 2010. After months of planning we are finally on our way at 10:35am a little later than we wanted. We made it all of 100 km before the first problem reared its head. Going through the Hugenot tunnel the battery warning light came on. A quick check revealed that the batteries were fine and so were the fuses, all signs point to the alternator. Wednesday, July 21, 2010. Left bush Lodge and proceeded to Fort Porthal. The countryside is stunning Quite green and after a long drive we stayed at Chimpanzee rest camp. We got caught out by a serious thunderstorm and had to dive for cover. Lovely coverd area on the campsite which we shared with a overland bus. Wednesday, August 4, 2010. Stayed at Jungle Junction and the Landy is being serviced. Met a lot of other people who have been around parts of East Africa. Nice to pick up tips. The setup is very nice. You can use their kitchen facilities to make anything you want from coffee to supper. They have dining room where you can sit and eat, a lounge to relax in, hot showers and they have free internet. Also cater for bikers. Relaxing at Twiga beach with a good book. And more road tax.
