Book Club – A Very British Book Blog

A Very British Book Blog. So we are on book 2 for March – Her Fearful Symmetry by Audrey Niffenegger. And in an attempt to control the number of comments on this page I have taken some professional advice and made a small change. This book club page is about Book Club itself, the actual books we read will be added as a new post when selected, and then when we’ve finished we will have a review post – hopefully this makes sense. 45 thoughts on “ Book Club. A Very British Book Blog. I got a Nikon Camera. June 2, 2015. June 2, 2015. With his college graduation gown expertly pitched into the trash, Justin Akron is ready for the road trip he planned with his best friend Landry and ready for one last summer of escape from his mother’s controlling grip. Climbing into the Winnebago his father left him, they set out across America in search of the sites his father had captured through the lens of his Nikon. 8212;———————...Welcome Alexis Hall, who has joined to ...

Aiming for a Publishing Deal: June 2014
http://aimingforapublishingdeal.blogspot.com/2014_06_01_archive.html
Aiming for a Publishing Deal. Monday, June 30, 2014. I am so frustrated. It's hard when you're plans hit brick walls. Plan 1. Create a new website for my writing group. I have done everything. I have put all the correct information in.but I'm stuck on getting one widget to work on the members page. Plan 2. Send out picture book manuscript. I've received some excellent feed back from the editor of Little Tiger, but try as I might I'm not sure how to put those changes in. Links to this post. My third idea ...

A Very British Book Blog – Page 2 – Mainly about books

A Very British Book Blog. The Best of Times. August 25, 2014. We have part of an apartment in the South of France, and have got to know a few of our neighbours since we’ve been going there, so this is how we became friends with the Old Couple Upstairs (affectionately known as the OCU). Well, this year we were there for their wedding anniversary, 54 years, and at the party, and the subsequent evening managed to piece together part of their story. You’ll never do wrong. July 31, 2014. Been in a bit of a we...

In a town called… – A Very British Book Blog
https://averybritishbookblog.wordpress.com/2014/12/07/in-a-town-called
A Very British Book Blog. In a town called…. December 7, 2014. It seems fitting that the penultimate post on this blog will be a book review, finally. Hopefully either just before, or just after Christmas I will be involved in a new review site so it will be all about books, no more meandering about plays and gin; although of course I will continue to enjoy both of these, often simultaneously. Deranged with the happy. And yet more whores! People of earth: i tell you it’s bloody. This story is gorgeous in...

Pulling down heaven – A Very British Book Blog
https://averybritishbookblog.wordpress.com/2014/09/14/pulling-down-heaven
A Very British Book Blog. September 14, 2014. Last week I went to see The Crucible. I’ll be honest and say that Richard Armitage was part of the attraction (well I’m only human). I read the play when I was at school, and loved it, I had an amazing English teacher who made everything come alive, so now when people say ‘Shakespeare/ Dickens/ Hardy (delete as applicable) is difficult/ out moded- I find it difficult to relate to. Also the whole McCarthy witch hunt era I find totally fascinating. 8221; “...

The final curtain – A Very British Book Blog
https://averybritishbookblog.wordpress.com/2015/01/04/the-final-curtain
A Very British Book Blog. January 4, 2015. I started reading romance again about 18 months ago, and blogging a year ago, and I knew nothing about either the on line romance or blogging communities; but I started reading, tweeting and interacting and a year later here I am, in some ways more confused than I was when I started. My friend was really hurt by all this. Although I posted comments on QRM, I did nothing more. Then, before Christmas a reviewer on Goodreads was attacked, again behind his back, bec...

Chair – A Very British Book Blog
https://averybritishbookblog.wordpress.com/chair
A Very British Book Blog. The lovely swirly sides. In all its tattered glory. My friends had this chair in their conservatory, I said I loved it (which I do), she hated it he liked it ,but not as much as me , so now it’s mine. My project this year is to restore it to it’s former glory, as it has languished at the back of the house and has been a bit battered by biblical weather recently. It looks like this now, hopefully not for long (ish). 2 thoughts on “ Chair. February 20, 2014 at 2:59 pm. Pop culture...

To find just one – A Very British Book Blog
https://averybritishbookblog.wordpress.com/2014/10/12/to-find-just-one
A Very British Book Blog. To find just one. October 12, 2014. When I heard about Queer Romance Month, I thought what a great idea, but what can I do? I felt as I read the first few posts, what value could I contribute? When I read this http:/ www.queerromancemonth.com/izzy-van-swelm. So in the end, in a round about way, I’ve written about being an ally of a group that I feel as connected to as any other group I don’t fully belong to. My nan, who came from Ireland and lived in Salford her whole life had a...
