Seven years later, Wayne was able to return to Guatemala with a Habitat for Humanity. Blog & News. You can help by sponsoring a child.The school at La Pedrera serves the poorest area of a very poor country. Public education in Latin America is not provided for free. A sponsorship enables a child with no other means to be able to attend school. 40 children are sponsored through La Pedrera School Project, but there are 60 on the waiting list. Supplies text books, note books, pencils, etc. Uniform for school and for sports. Two pairs of shoes one pair for sports and the one for daily use.

Blog & News. The La Pedrera community is comprised primarily of indigenous Mayan people, mostly women and children, who were displaced by the Guatemalan Civil War. During the war they migrated there from their ancestral homes in the rural Western Highlands looking for work and hoping to better their lives. In Spanish la pedrera means the quarry. The village of La Pedrera is located at the edge of an rock quarry in the hills overlooking Quetzaltenango. A typical sheet metal house in the La Pedrera village.

Le projet éducatif La Pedrera. Sauver les tortues marines. Samedi 22 mars 2014. L'eau potable est arrivée à l'école de Tojquia. Depuis février, les 160 élèves du village de Tojquia recoivent leurs bonbonnes d'eau potable de la ville la plus proche. Un bien précieux qui a été financé avec le soutien du collège Pasteur d'Yvré-l'Evêque. Guatemala 96 remercie l'équipe enseignante et les collégiens pour ce projet solidaire. Le directeur Edwin Mendoza (à gauche) reçoit la visite des parents.
