Chickens - La Perdrière

We have five different breeds of chicken and they include Wyandottes and cream crested Legbars. We also raise Cobb chickens for meat. This is a blue-laced Wyandotte cockerel. He is a large bird, but very gentle. These are our white turkeys. They are full of character but very smelly! This is a pure blue Wyandotte hen and rare. She is only 14 weeks old and has a lot more growing to do. These are the Ross meat chickens. They are about eight weeks old in this picture! He again is a large bird.

A farm wouldn't be a farm without a garden Railway! Here are some pictures showing the making of the station and some of the trains running. Here the station is. Here is the track winding around the pond. The station is finished and the passengers wait for the afternoon train! The Mogul crossing the bridge over the little stream. The foundations are done and it's now ready for the buildings to be put in place. The goods train trundles along the track. The car park is very busy with commuters!
Turkeys - La Perdrière

We keep turkeys from June until December. We buy them as 5 week old poults and raise them for Christmas. They are so ugly that they are actually beautiful. They are friendly and easy going birds who need to be raised in a group. This is the size of the white turkeys when we buy them. They grow to be 14-16 kg when adult so it is important to allow them plenty of space. They will free-range on the field as they love grass and wild flowers. Create a free website. This is Sophie a Blenheim Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. This is Lucy as a kitten. She was our first cat in France. She knew when she looked cute! Here is Sam at 8 weeks old. He was a very laid back dog. Smiffy gets the Sam treatment. Here she is with the puppies, Sam and Benjie. She liked her comfort. In the midst of chaos she would find a comfy bed to sleep in!
